Do you ever buy clothing even though you don’t have the occasion to wear it to yet? I try not to do that often, but sometimes clothing purchases that don’t make much $en$e trump my better judgment.
Last weekend, I spotted a teal, rushed, cowl neck dress with a peekaboo back that kept calling my name while in TJ Maxx (fellow St. Louisans, the Olympic Oaks Village TJ on Manchester Rd is the runway store here and the location I frequent). The dress is by Akiko, so although significantly discounted, it still cost $69.99, a price that is more than I would normally spend on one dress.
Now, I am willing to spend more on a single item of clothing if it has a superb quality and style and I think I will wear it a lot. See Black Sheath Dress, Unlimited Possibilities and Dress-ing Day and Night (another Akiko dress) for a couple dresses that I spent more on.

So, to keep or not to keep? And, yes, I will return a purchase in a heartbeat. Read a funny take on my return policy in If My Clothes Could Talk.
I have a few trips to NYC planned, so I could plan to wear this dress for a night out in the city. Other than that, the dress would only be worn sporadically in my not so glamorous life. Hmmm…decisions, decisions.
Girl you better keep that sexy dress! YOu look great in it. And if you ever think it's too much, you can always had a nice blazer blazer and black opaque tights and some boots for the fall, instant glam covering up.
That dress looks amazing on you!

I agree. Keep it!
I passed by that TJ Maxx and was too lazy to go in. I'll guess I'll make time to go in!!
KEEP! I think you could wear this dress out to a nice dinner or party. And the simple style makes it easy to accessorize in different ways. It's way too flattering and sexy/classy to return!
I am a fellow St. Louisan, but transplanted to Seattle. Never knew you were there! LOVE that TJs..
i went through a phase where i bought several fancy dresses without anywhere to wear them to… and they sat in my closet. so now i have to be very strict with myself… i only buy if they are a classic style/pattern and i have an idea of what i would wear it to (a wedding, christmas party, whatever). that being said… i love that dress! it seriously looks amazing on you. that color is fab, i say you keep it 🙂
I think you should keep it! I am one of those who buys a dress and will hold on to it for the perfect occasion! This would look fantastic in NYC or even if you have a bachlorette party coming up!
Keep it! Looks great on you and is rather timeless in style – you can wear that dress forever.
IT'S A KEEPER!!!!…..I love it!…CAPIS
Oh wow. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!!
KEEEEEP. The color and fit is outstanding.
It's worth creating an occasion to wear it. 🙂
Definitely keep this dress, if you return it I'll be mad at you! hahaha. So cute. I'm sure an occasion will come up soon to wear it!
