Fashion mathematics, part deux! In White Tee, Pencil Skirt, Unlimited Possibilities, I indicated that one great way I maximize the bang for my bucks is by accumulating timeless basics that outlast trends and can easily be restyled using items from my existing wardrobe.
This week’s bang-for-my-bucks basic is a black sheath dress by Tahari, purchased for $69.99 (retail price $238) at TJ Maxx. Yes, that price is a tad steep especially for those of us used to spending $39.99 for $200 dresses in TJ Maxx. I decided to splurge, though, because of the fit and quality of this sheath. In addition, the cost per wear (cost of dress divided by number of days dress is worn) continues to shrink as I keep pulling for this dress week after week.
Check out how I have been working with my sheath dress.
