Part sweater. Part coat. The long cardigan is one of the most versatile layering pieces. And, the right layers make getting dressed so easy during the fall. When I got a sneak peek of J.Jill’s September collection, which launches tomorrow, I knew I had to have the long double faced cardigan.

A Long Cardigan is a Versatile Layering Piece
The J.Jill cardigan comes in a striking and classic combination of black and camel. It’s a color combo that looks sophisticated with everything. The cardigan also has the perfect length to create a long and lean silhouette no matter how you wear it. I’m wearing it today with cuffed jeans and a tank, but it looks equally fly with a dress.
We’ve been waking up to chilly mornings here in St. Louis, and a long cardigan has been an easy, cozy, and stylish choice for staying warm. As it gets colder, I can continue to rock my long cardigan by adding more layers. I especially love the look of a cardigan under a jacket.
Light layers are my go-tos for transitioning my summer style to fall. See another one of my fall transition essentials here.
Talking about fall essentials, I envision wearing my Madewell Transport Rucksack and my Chinese Laundry oxfords (now under $30) often. They’re both functional and fabulous pieces that evoke fall flavor.
