Wearing a Dress as a Peplum Top

If you live and shop in or near St. Louis, then you probably already know that the shopping scene in our area is about to get even better because the St. Louis Premium Outlets is opening this week!  The grand opening celebration runs from August 22 to August 25.  I’ll be there on Friday and will surely return with a report on the celebration.

I’ve had the best outlet shopping experiences at Premium Outlets.  When I lived in Kentucky, I would drive to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets just about every weekend.  The deals were really that great. One of my favorite finds from that outlet mall was a houndstooth dress by Max & Cleo purchased in a BCBG factory store.  I think the dress was marked down as low as $30.

It’s no secret that I love this houndstooth dress.  You’ve seen me wear it a lot.  See the dress styled for fall and styled for winter.  Last night, I was brainstorming new ways to wear this dress.  And, just like that, the dress was transformed into a peplum top.  I folded the hem of the dress under and used four safety pins to keep it in place.

Location: Compton Hill Water Tower and Park Reservoir, St. Louis, MO

I recently saw a Kate Spade necklace that comprised a gold link necklace twisted around
a faux pearl necklace.  I tried to recreate that look with two necklaces I already owned.

Never would I have guessed that was a dress! And the Kate Spade necklace hack– brilliant! All of it. So glad I read this post. I'm definitely trying this necklace thing out.

That's great, Nathyness! Definitely get to twisting up your necklaces. I've been wanting to try layering necklaces a la J.Crew styling guide, but mine don't work well for that. This twisting was a great way to work with what I have.

Two re-stylings in one post – you're good, girl! Love the dress as a peplum.

Brilliant. Love the dress as peplum and think you did a fabulous job with the entwined necklaces as well.
