Anthropologie Dusken Funnelneck Coat

A month ago, I did a coat check in preparation for the winter.  This quick assessment revealed that my coat closet had the basics covered—classic trench, rain coat, puffer, and wool coat.  I decided, then, that I would only purchase a new coat this year if it was super special.  You know, special with details like an asymmetrical collar, snap/hook closures, and multi-colored horizontal stripes.  Special like the Plenty by Tracy Reese funnelneck coat for Anthropologie.

This Dusken Funnelneck coat retails for a whopping $298 at Anthro, $50 less than it cost on the Tracy Reese site.  All Anthro prices eventually come down, though, so I waited.  Last week, the first pice cut came, 50% off!  This new price of $149.95 got my attention.  I eventually spent $124.95 on the coat after receiving an extra $25 off (recent Anthro offer).

I’m wearing a size M.

The coat seemingly runs true-to-size.  I initially ordered a size small (see how the small fit) and the coat struggled to get over my hips because of its fairly straight A-line cut.  So, I got it in a medium instead.  The medium improved the fit of the bottom.  The top was notably larger as well—wider shoulders, larger bodice, and larger sleeves.  I liked the sleek look of the size small, but I feel more comfortable in the medium.
