Layering always provides great opportunities to make items your own, showcasing your personal style. During the summertime, however, high temperatures make layering seem counterintuitive.
A recent J.Crew newsletter, Layering Light, offered some interesting suggestions for piling on layers during the warmer months like wearing a lightweight vest over a top or even layering up on button down shirts.
In today’s post, I’m attempting to “layer light” a la J. Crew by wearing a shirtdress over a button-down shirt.

Interesting idea – looks very summery!
Yeah…I may not shop J.Crew all the time, but its lookbooks are packed with inspiration 🙂
This is really clever, nice layering.
Right! I can't wait to layer with my other shirt dresses.
New to your blog, LOVE IT especially how your hair is always on point – professional but fashionable. Great job!
Welcome, Juliette! Thanks for your kind words!
Just do the darn thing girl! Aren't you having so much fun?
Yes, girl. Fashion should always be fun, right?
So cute! You make clothes fun!
Thanks for that, Lisa. Love hearing that.
I love the mix of patterns here – it just works!
I like the visual effect of this. I'm making a mental note.
Loving the way the prints mesh together. And that bag is super cute!

Confessions Of A City Girl
I like this layering, it looks really good with the prints and colours together! Sadly would be too hot to do this for summer here, even if I did have a shirt dress I could use. I'll just admire from afar 🙂
