Going Out: Coffee, Curls, and Cupcakes

Yesterday, I attended Coffee, Curls, & Cupcakes, a natural hair event in St. Louis.  I’ve been natural for over 15 years and still enjoy attending these types of gatherings.  There’s free swag, hundreds of women sporting fierce natural hairdos, and amazing vendors on site.

For the event, my hair was styled by Chi-Chi of ErthTonez.  The curly look was the result of a rod set on the top and coils in the back and sides.

Here are some shots of my outfit (taken after the event).  I wore my Gap asymetrical ruched dress with a skinny tan belt, grey tights, tan boots, and an orange blazer.

The Forever 21 blazer has a leopard lining (visible at rolled sleeves)

Dress—Gap
Belt—Ann Taylor
Blazer—Forever 21 (Double knit blazer in rust)
Tights—Dolci Calze via Marshalls
Boots—Jeffrey Campbell c/o SoleStruck
Clutch—Aldo

Check out a few more snaps from the event on Facebook.

I am loving the purple dress! Is it an asymetrical neckline or a one-shoulder? Fabric?

Great contrast with the orange and purple.

@Peacheslcg: Yes, the Gap dress is nice, right? It is a basic cotton dress…no lining or extra frills. It has two shoulders. The neckline is asymmetrical. There is a link in the post to an earlier post showing the dress.

@Sing: Thanks, Sing! I keep going back short. I'm thinking of growing it out again for a while though 🙂

    @Mrs T. Mac: Thanks, Tavia!!

@Style4Curves: Ooh nice. Coming by to your fab look!

@sandie: Thanks! The tights are a dark grey. They also have a subtle print on them. I've been finding some amazing tights on clearance in Marshalls and TJ Maxx.

@Kimmie6992: SO excited that you did the cut and love it!! Kudos!!

Lafemmetci: Certainly. I'm so drawn to bold colors this season.

@Pretty Dark Girl Style: Thanks, Toni. Sophisticated and classy and two words I love to hear when talking about style.

@Janell: Thanks! I sometimes decide on a piece based on how the lining looks. The lining and color sold this jacket to me. Of course, a good lining is a great sign of well made garment…so it makes sense too. ha.

@Kendra Scott: Thanks for the great designs. I was thinking that the Nyla earrings in turquoise would be fantastic with this look too.
