Fashion Thesaurus: Oxfords

Last winter, I decided to purchase a pair of oxfords so I would have a fully enclosed shoe that was flat.  I opted for a pair that was simple and stylish and bought the Crown Vintage Elim slip-on oxford.  Luckily for me, the oxfords were on sale in the color I wanted, a distressed grey that was actually described as brown on the box.

Since buying the oxfords, I haven’t worn them much.  Underutilizing these shoes doesn’t even make sense because when I think about these oxfords, I always connect them with several other items already in my wardrobe.

“Fashion Thesaurus” is one of my new series that will showcase items that I always connect with each other.  This fashion thesaurus has helped me decide what to edit from my wardrobe and also what to add.

So, to ensure that I put these fabulous oxfords to use, I decided to open my fashion thesaurus today and share some of the items that I always associate with these oxfords.

I always associate my oxfords with leggings and any other
pair of pants that reveals my ankles.
Top-Nally & Millie, Leggings-Target, Bag-Missoni for Target

These oxfords always go well with skirts–short skirts,
full skirts, long skirts…
Cami-ON, Jacket-Loft, Skirt-Dolce & Gabbana (swapped),

I always envision my oxfords paired with
my casual dresses like this chambray shirt dress.

In my mind, a pair of jeans is always a good match for
oxfords.  The jeans work well when cuffed too.

Now that I’ve consulted my fashion thesaurus, I think these oxfords will get worn more.

It's funny that you wrote about Oxfords. I am going to wear mine for the next two days for a business trip. I am pairing it with an ankle length full skirt on day one and with a pair of wide leg trousers on day two. I love the looks you showcased. They really can go with anything! I'm tempted to get a pair in a different colour!

They look great with every outfit you posted. I have two pairs that I wear somewhat frequently and usually with boyish outfits. I like your skirt with them, though.
