Last year, I traveled to the Caribbean a couple times. On both trips, the J. Crew sanur dress emerged as a favorite clothing item. This lightweight jersey dress is so versatile, easily converting from a midlength strapless dress to a short strapless dress and also a skirt. I wore it everywhere from an outdoor music festival to the beach bars (FYI: if you like to bar hop, the Huffington Post named my home island-St, Kitts-one of the best islands in the Caribbean for bar hoppers).
I have owned two sanur dresses, one in navy blue (confiscated by a family member who liked it as much as I did…ha!) and the other in grey. I purchased the navy dress last year in a J. Crew factory store ($29) and the grey one on eBay ($29). I believe the dress retails for $68 when in the main store.
Check out how the sanur dress holds up when I am off island.

Another hit! This is my favorite cut dress hands down.
I LOVE! everything about this outfit! Great buy in that dress; too bad you had to let go of the navy one!
omg you r beautiful..love it
Love this dress on you and I am so excited that you are from St. Kitts! My great grandmother was from St. Kitts and I plan to go there to find if I have any relatives still there. Way cool!
Thanks @Sing. This is a favorite silhouette of mine too. I am my heaviest on the bottom, so an A-line cut is my friend.
Thanks @Taylor. I can't even keep track of all the things I've lost to family members that "shop" my closet 🙂
Thanks @Liliana Reyes!
No way @Minister of Style!! You know I'm gonna have to reach out to you to find our who your people are.
I've been following your blog for a while now, and I love your style. It was only tonight that I saw the "St Kitts" label on your sidebar. I'm from Antigua! How cool is that 🙂
