Pattern Play: An Easy Way to Mix Gingham and Stripes

I’m a huge fan of tying on sweaters or shirts instead of wearing them. Remember my post, 3 Times Tying a Sweater was Better Than Wearing One? In today’s look, I’m mixing prints using that styling trick. The result is a much more interesting outfit.

What can I say? I love stripes! So, when I saw Venus drop this stripe 0ff-the-shoulder top, I had to have it. And, get this. It ‘s on sale right now for only under $20.

This is the kind of tee that looks good on its own. No doubt about that. But, it’s also the perfect stripe pattern for pairing with my favorite gingham shirt. Bold stripes meet small checks for a balanced combination.

Since black and white prints are among the easiest to mix up, I added an additional print for fun―leopard. Since black is such a prominent color in my leopard bag, it ties into the overall look seamlessly.

My J.Crew Swinging Drop earrings have been a go-to pair. They’re shiny, swingy, and so modern. I’m yet to find an outfit that they don’t go well with.
