Dancing in Dots

One easy way to breathe new life into your wardrobe during the spring is by embracing the season’s favorite colors and prints. This year, polka dots are back! Admittedly, I’d prefer to wear stripes over polka dots any day, but some of the polka dot picks of the season have me dizzy for dots. I’ve already wish-listed the J.Crew Dotted Elsie Snakeskin d’Orsay Pumps and the J.Crew Snakeskin Multistrap Sandals. Aren’t the dot designs on both pairs gorgeous?

Dress: c/o Venus ($39)

Belts: Anthropologie “Mangikat” obi belt (option)
Pumps: J.Crew (option)
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Watch: Movado (in silver)
Lip: Mac “Fashion Legacy” liquid lipcolour, Mac “Kiss Me Quick” lip pencil

I was also instantly drawn to the polka dot dress I’m wearing today. It has some of my favorite features on a dress. Halter neckline? Check. Cinched waist? Check. Full skirt? Check. In addition to all that, the dress is navy—one of my favorite colors—with white dots. I was surprised to discover that the dress has a petticoat with a tulle trim for fullness. The front of the top is lined as well.

I took the dress for a spin last weekend. I thought it would be fun to add a mixed-print element to break up the all-over dot print. I wanted that additional print to have a global flair and the Mangikat obi belt I found months ago in a clearance bin at Anthropologie was perfect for doing that. I was thrilled that the belt worked because even though I spent under $5 to get it, I hadn’t been able to wear it until now.

Sizing? I’m wearing the dress in a size 4.

Are you wearing a strapless bra? Do you mind sharing the details? I haven't found a good strapless bra, so if I have to I tape them.

Yes, I'm wearing a strapless bra by Natori, Nylse I did a fitting at Nordstrom a few years ago. It was life-changing! In addition to determining my size, the fitter had me try on several bras to discover which brand fit me best. Natori bras were a clear winner for me. Of course, I left Nordstrom with that information and stocked up on Natori bras at Nordstrom Rack.
