Wedding season is fast approaching. Chances are you’re getting married, participating in a wedding, or simply attending a wedding in a few months. I’ll be attending two weddings during peak season. I was really excited, then, when I had the opportunity to meet with Robert Barnowske, David’s Bridal VP of Design, while he visited St. Louis recently. Barnowske has over 20 years of experience in bridal, the most recent 5 years at David’s Bridal, and the previous 15 years at Vera Wang.

Robert Barnowske, David’s Bridal VP of Design, and me |
Believe it or not, I had previously never stepped inside of a David’s Bridal store. So, it was quite special to have the VP of Design walk me through the store on my first visit. I got an insider’s look at what’s trending in bridal for 2015 and at David’s Bridal unique approach to fulfilling wedding dreams. Today’s post highlights 7 fascinating things I learned on my visit to David’s Bridal.
1. David’s Bridal is affordable and fashion-forward
With over 60 years of meeting the demands of brides, David’s Bridal has fine-tuned and maximized its manufacturing capabilities. Doing so has allowed the company to keep its price-point affordable while securing impeccable details in the designs. The price on gowns at David’s Bridal range from $299 to $1800. Some styles even go on sale for as low as $99.

2. David’s Bridal carries exclusive designer lines
David’s Bridal is a well-known stop for budget-conscious brides. But, budget-consicous and fashion-forward brides can now unite to shop the affordable, designer lines that are exclusive to David’s Bridal. By the way, these designer lines are created by some of the most celebrated designers in the world, including Zac Posen and Vera Wang.

3. David’s Bridal carries a wide array of sizes
David’s Bridal carries a wide array of sizes, up to a size 28 and a special-ordered size 30. Stores usually have plus sizes in stock as well, allowing all brides, not just those that can fit sample sizes, to try on gowns and get a real sense of the look. While most brides will require alterations to secure a perfect fit on their wedding days, David’s Bridal has one of the most accurate sizing systems, which was derived from the results of conducting laser scans of 10,000 women’s bodies.
4. David’s Bridal offers the latest innovation in fabrics
Tossed tulle. Stretch mesh. Textured organza. The fabrics used to create dresses at David’s Bridal represent the latest innovations to make brides feel regal and comfortable on their wedding days. Vera Wang, whose White by Vera Wang collection is a favorite at David’s Bridal, and whose background as a figure skater shaped her understanding of fabric and movement, was the first bridal designer to use stretch illusion fabrics.

5. The collection of gowns at David’s Bridal is as diverse as its brides
Strapless gowns had their moment in bridal history and are still popular among many brides. These days, though, more brides want their wedding gowns to represent their unique fashion sensibilities. David’s Bridal understands that and carries a diverse assortment of styles. Illusion necks, high necks, halters, sleeves. You name it, David’s Bridal carries the style in house.
6. David’s Bridal carries an amazing selection of accessories
All of us here understand the importance of accessories to finishing and personalizing our looks. Bridal style is no different. Brides are choosing accessories that reflect their fashion tastes, ensuring they feel like themselves on their wedding days. David’s Bridal offers a wide selection of accessories to suit the varied tastes of brides. From designer shoes to statement necklaces to headpieces, check out these swoon-worthy accessories I spotted at David’s Bridal.
7. David’s Bridal carries value-priced veils
Veils are making a comeback! And, David’s Bridal carries the same quality veils as high-end bridal boutiques, but at value prices. A veil is another great accessory for individualizing bridal style.
