Surviving the Winter in Style

It was 3 days after the Polar Vortex caused heavy snowfall and subzero temps in St. Louis that I was finally able to get out of my house and drive to the grocery store for well-needed supplies.  You see, my South City neighborhood in St. Louis is not a top priority for city snow plowing, so the streets around my house haven’t been cleaned at all.  Luckily, enough brave souls have traveled on those snow-covered streets anyway, clearing somewhat of a drivable path.

I’ve never been as excited to visit a supermarket as I was that first day out of my polar vortex hibernation.  I made an event of it, then, by sporting every cheery color (in a warm article of clothing) I could find.  Purple coat.  Fuchsia scarf. Mustard beanie.  All these colors united to form one perfect-for-frigid-weather look.
