I’m thrilled that the “couture sweatshirt” trend is making a comeback this fall. I’m not quite sure what it is about the laid-back vibe of a sweatshirt that I find so appealing. Well, maybe it is the laid-back, casual vibe of a sweatshirt that I like.
Last fall, I purchased a french terry pullover with a polka dot trim at the shoulders in Forever 21. I wore that sweater a lot. See how I wore it on a movie date in Movie Night Style: Sweats Alternative. Now that the trend has returned, I’ve started identifying new sweatshirt options, like the Forever 21 Battle Spikes Sweatshirt, to add to my wardrobe.
In the meantime, here’s my older sweatshirt styled for brunch last Sunday. To take the sweatshirt from lazy-weekend-wear to brunch-ready, I paired it with a lace mini skirt. Black tights, black booties, a stripe clutch, and a statement necklace add finishing touches.

I've got a couple of "couture" sweatshirts (via Old Navy and Loft – so luxe, I know) coming my way right now. Anything to make knits more wearable for out for me!
Ooh…can't wait to see which ones you get, Lisa! I've been eying a few at the Loft and ON too. I'm with you on making knits wearable. I welcome any trend that allows that 🙂
Super cute, that sweater is awesome!
Thanks, Tara!
Of COURSE you could make a sweatshirt go with a lace skirt. Bravo, Psyche. (Love the look, btw.)
