It’s Friday! It’s Friday! Got plans for the weekend?
Friday
Tonight, one of my zumba partners and I are going to the Downtown Arts Center to support two fellow zumba-ites/professional dancers who will be performing in the Contemporary Dance Collective’s Convergence.
Despite a few recent price increases, the Gap has some amazing deals in store at the moment. The dress I am wearing tonight is one of those steals. It is a simple yet striking deep purple dress with aysmetrical detailing at the shoulders. I purchased it for $19.50 (originally $69.95, marked down to $34.99 plus an extra 40% off).

Dress—Gap, Belt—Gap, Shoes, Earrings—Kendra Scott, Bag—Aldo |
*Update* I made some minor tweaks to the outfit before going out. I swapped the Gap belt with the leather ties from my Linea Pelle bag. The leather strips worn as a belt better complemented the southwestern flavor of the clutch. I also changed the espadrille wedges because I didn’t have time to do a fresh pedicure and the espadrilles put my toes on display. My tan peep-toe pumps were a perfect substitute.

P.S. I have somewhat discriminating taste in handbags and usually opt to splurge on a few select higher-end bags that I wear for years, that suit my lifestyle, and that I have an emotional connection to. But, I have found some attractive bags in Aldo over the past year. They are usually under $50 (some of them real leather). Here are two of my favorites—the beaded clutch worn above and a small leather crossbody bag.

Saturday
On Saturday, I may be heading back to Louisville for the Soul Food Festival. It will be held outdoors at the Waterfront Park. If I do go, I will be wearing my new cuffed boyfriend shorts and the new gingham top from The Limited. Here’s how I’d style the pieces.

P.S. I have been searching for a straw fedora for a minute and found this one in Wal-Mart for $8! I have never been into hats, but lately I have been so inspired to sport a fedora after viewing the mad hat stylings of Sing over at Sing’ature Style.
Wow, that Gap dress is gorgeous on you, what a deal too! have fun tonight!
Love the Aldo bags, they always have a fun selection.
And I'm diggin' your fedora, you are rocking it!
Soul Food Fest? Wow, I'd love to go to that. Food coma would ensue I'm sure. Have fun!
I am loving that colorful Aldo bag and I normally do not like small bags, especially a clutch. And I must have a gingham ruffle shirt like that immediately!
Good morning – I just wanted to say that I love your blog and you always look so polished..
Keep up the good work –
Laura

Ay-yi-yi! I have been trying to avoid Gap like the plague!!! Now that I've read the words "extra 40% off" on your blog, I may have to accidentally make my way to the mall tomorrow.
You look gorgeous in that dress (ugh! and what a deal!). And that weekend outfit is perfect, hat and all!
@Andi: Thanks! I almost passed on it too because my usual size was not available. I tried this one on anyway and it fit. Gap sizing can be so random sometimes. I have another Gap dress with the identical cut and I bought that one two sizes smaller than what the tag on this one says it is.
@Sing: Aldo bags get my attention too. This beaded number had me the moment I saw it. You are totally my fedora-wearing inspiration!
@Taylor: Haute, right? Gingham prints get me all the time. The store workers actually had to rip this one off a mannequin for me. I was not accepting that my size was not available. Lol!
@Laura: Awww…thanks! Come back and visit!!
@Seeker: I see I am not the only one who loves gingham 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend!!
@Nav: Thanks! I usually don't think hats look right on me either. It is probably because they never fit my large cabeza! lol. I will surely stop by you spot!
@Kish: Me too! But, I stumbled onto some serious sales there and can't help stopping in. Most of the major sales are on select racks, so just rummage through them!
Hey, thanks for coming by my blog and commenting, I appreaciate it!
I was so hoping that you would joining in on the fun with the challenge. I hope u join in so I can steal ideas from you 😉 haha
I am following you!

I love that Aldo bag too! I am much more of a bag lady than a shoe lady!
Ha! I bought that hat at Walmart this weekend, too! Mine doesn't has a ribbon band, though.
I love that bag, you look adorable, & so happy! Hope you had a lovely weekend! -xxoo

I love how you remixed that dress. That is a great steal. I will have to check out the Gap! I love Aldo bags, I have a few of them! I'm not really into high-end bags, but I think maybe one day I'll splurge on a Michael Kors, since he's my fav designer. Your second look with the long shorts is great for a festival! I also find great hats at Target. I have 3 floppy hats from there!

What a fab color on you! Love your "actual" look — belt, hair and shoes all looked great. The bag is a marvelous accent and I can see it being the perfect evening summer bag. Love your style, love your blog!!
