Hair Story

Here goes. I mentioned my hair sometime back when talking about my favorite low-budget hair products. Since then I have received a few requests for hair posts. I thought I would respond to these today, especially since I just got a great hair cut!
I have had my hair locked since 2000. After a major cut in 2006, I’ve been growing it out. Lately, I’ve felt like my hair did’nt quite fit my style (it had length, no shape, and hence ended up in a ponytail on most days).
This past weekend I turned to the fabulous Erica at Natural Uhuru for a change. She gave me a layered cut and then a curl (using some perm rods). I am really happy with the result.
Of course, I did not take a before picture. So, I had to improvise…

I love the cut. I understand what you mean about your hair not matching your style. I find myself in that rut as a grad student. I recently got microbraids for the summer because I figured I could at least have some sort of style on the go instead of an updo EVERYday.
but back to you this looks great. How easy are the curls to maintain?

The curls are so cute. A nice fresh change for spring!:-)

Seeker: Thanks. I really do feel more stylish now.

Mel: This cut was long overdue for me. Though nice and full, my hair just did not frame my face very well. I will have to show you the frontal shot.

Sara: I appreciate it. It’s funny how hair could change so much about a look.

Diva: Thanks. I feel you on the rut. Microbraids do give style flexibility.

The curls are very easy to maintain. If I set my hair when it is wet, they hold until I wash it again. The curls start out really tight and become a loose curl overtime.

La Belette Rouge: Yes indeed. A cool spring change.

Ooh la la..can I ask a stoopid question, how long will the curl last?

Imelda Matt: For sure. All question are welcome. The curl holds until I wash my hair. It loosens everyday though. I love the much looser curl too.

    Capis: Thanks Capis!

Budget Chic: Yes. I thought now would be a great time of year for this change. Thank ya!

NICE!! I’m really loving the curls. I really need a change for spring as well but unfortunately my choices are limited. That being said, I guess it’s time to up the accessories! :O) I request more pictures to show the progression as the curl loosens, pretty please!
