The Science of Shopping on a Budget, Part III: Deep Sale Searching

Nowadays, there is absolutely no reason to buy anything that is not on sale. We savvy bargain shoppers don’t just shop sales; we seek out the deepest sales. And, doing so requires some foresight.

Today, I will focus on one retailer—Banana Republic Factory Store—a favorite of mine. The BR factory store is a great example since its full prices are already much lower than the BR store. So how do we maximize our budgets at this store? We get on their mailing list and become the first to be notified of the upcoming sales, which at this store means an extra 40% off all clearance items.

Sounds good, right? Yes, but you know we got to stretch it further. I have never shopped at the BR factory store without being “randomly selected” to complete a survey about my experience. Strangely enough, I enjoy filling surveys out since I believe that my feedback will make the store a better place to shop. And well, the 15% off ANYTHING coupon incentive does not hurt. Every survey I am given, I complete. I always keep a 15% off coupon in my purse. You know, for the spur of the moment shopping excursion.

So now, what we have is 55% off already reduced prices at a fabulous store! Happy deep sale searching.
