Looking Back, Looking Forward

You’re right. It is fall. And, an eyelet dress is more of a spring and summer item. This dress arrived fashionably late but totally compensated with its clearance price of under $20. Much of the detail is hidden here as the dress was made fall-ready for an afternoon wedding by adding a cardigan. Nonetheless, the strapless dress features a flattering silhouette with its a-line design, sweetheart neckline, gathered bust seams, and a smocked panel at the center back. Grey pumps complete the fall transformation.
An eyelet dress packed with exquisite details is a wardrobe staple, and hence a modern classic.

    Hi Psyche!
First of all I love this look. So quick question, where do I go for cardigans/throw-overs for formal wear? I have a couple of eveing events to go to, and def need dto get shawls. One of the dresses is a pumpkin-golden color. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Thanks Mel!

So events on the horizon. You are in luck, for cardigans and shawls are everywhere! A wrap (cashmere or silk) is probably easiest for the more formal events. I think the form of the dress will dictate the type of cardigan you wear. If you want to maintain the sleek a-line silhouette of a dress, then a short shrunken cardigan might work best. A loose-fitting dress would look great with a sweater coat (the longer cardigan possibly with a belt).

The Mega-Marshalls here has a great selection of wraps. I have seen some great swing cardigans there as well. Overstock has a cute swing cardigan that I have been watching. The Limited had a huge selection of short, fitted cardigans on sale. BR has some cardigans on sale too.

I’ll email you if I think of some good deals…
