Just Add a Scarf

Boring outfit? No worries. Just add a scarf in a vibrant color or bold print to instantly add interest to a look. As an added bonus, of course, scarves can also ward off the chills when the temperature drops.

Last Sunday, I was running out to brunch in my asymmetrical tunic sweater paired with leggings. The all-black ensemble was hip, but I felt like it lacked something, a finishing touch. On a whim, I reached for my Kate Spade bow infinity scarf. That was it! The graphic black and white print that the scarf brought to the look was just what the outfit needed.

To add some color, I wore my burgundy suede ankle booties and my go-to fall tote in its beautiful port color. Bold berry hues are always a good choice this time of year.

Shades of Sunshine

What’s your favorite color to wear during the fall? If I had to choose just one, it would be mustard. There’s something just so sunny and cheery about the color.

I stopped by Anthropologie recently to purchase the mustard infinity scarf I’m wearing today. It’s not even on sale yet, but it’s cheery color, fun polka dot print, and luxuriously soft texture, made it a must-have for me. I did negotiate a small discount of 15% because the last scarf available in my store had the tiniest snag on it. It doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

While in Anthropologie purchasing the scarf, I tried on the mustard gold pullover sweater I’m featuring today as well. The color initially caught my attention, but it was the snazzy silhouette (not shown in this post)—a subtle swing style with a high neck—that made me love it. The sweater is on sale, and sale is an additional 30% off at Anthropologie right now. I paid less than $35 (orig. $98). If you’ve been eying any marked-down items at Anthropologie, this is a good time to buy your favorites.

To complete my sunny fall look, I added a couple hip pieces in neutral hues, a wool hat in a camel color and my brown Rhea booties.

On day two of the Saint Louis Fashion Week blogger experience, I got to explore Naturalizer’s latest fall styles and learn about the newest technology behind the brand’s comfortable shoes. A brand that prioritizes style and comfort? Of course, I was intrigued.

I was excited to learn about Naturalizer’s N5 Contour collection featuring shoes with advanced, premium technology for delivering comfort. Shoes with the N5 comfort technology offer dual density cushioning, breathable microfiber linings, innovative contour insoles, flexible materials inside and out, and they’re light. Let’s just say, I couldn’t wait to have the N5 experience.

I first tried on Jarret, a pair of ankle boots with an edgy wraparound strap complete with metallic hardware. They were a perfect fit and oh so comfortable. I tried on the Jordie boot next, a mod tall boot with a wraparound strap. They, too, had a relaxed fit. To seriously test the N5 technology, though, I had to try on another pair. So, I tried on the Harbor boot, a sleek tall boot. This pair had such an amazing fit that I didn’t want to take them off.

I’m wearing the Naturalizer Harbor boots in today’s post in black in the medium width. They’re the boots my cold weather wardrobe has been wanting. By the way, these boots are also available in brown and a wide calf width. I envision wearing them often, with skinny pants, with dresses, with any look that can use a pair of sleek black boots.

I’ve been reaching for all black a lot this fall. To jazz up my black ensembles, I rely on mixed textures, like the rich leather boots and the mud cloth clutch. I also embrace statement pieces, like the ruffle-front blouse and the  mirror rock crystal drop earrings.

Stepping into Fall’s Neutral Territory

I never thought I’d be excited to wear something beige, but I love the way beige looks when it’s combined with black and white. On Tuesday, I virtually styled a neutral ensemble with the beige-black-white color combination in the Fall’s Neutral Territory post. Today, I bring that look to life using pieces from my wardrobe.

My splash of beige comes from an oversized H&M sweater. By the way, the sweater is on sale in-store this weekend for $9.99. It’s also available in some pretty fall colors like mustard, burgundy, and olive.  I bought it in mustard as well.

I used some of my favorite accessories to pull the look together and jazz it up a bit. My Kendra Scott Adair earrings in gunmetal and gold radiate amid the neutrals. My Chameleon clutch adds global flavor with its striking mud cloth.

When I first saw the Adam Lippes for Target collection, I ignored the shoes because I assumed they would look cheap. I was so impressed, then, when I saw how stunning they were in-store. The print just pops on the shoes. At just $29.99 a pair, the plaid flats were an easy choice.

Fall’s Neutral Territory

From camel to beige, earthy neutral hues are all the rage this fall. And, when worn the right way, neutrals can be just as fun as our favorite bold and bright colors. Here’s how I’d wear fall’s muted color palette.
