Spring Getaway Style: Wear-Anywhere Stripes

This is the final post in the Spring Getaway Style series. This lightweight, breezy, and chic striped romper (only $22.90) served me well on my recent trip to Curacao. I clocked some serious hours wearing this one, from morning to afternoon. It’s such a versatile piece that I was appropriately dressed for breakfast, some shopping, an alfresco lunch, and drinks at the beach bar.

Romper: Forever 21 ($22.90)

Sandals: Kate Spade Saturday (J.Crew option, option, option)

Tote: Kate Spade Saturday (similar, similar)

Earrings: Kendra Scott (new for spring)

Lip: Mac “Dangerously Red” lipstick, Mac “Beet” lip pencil

The striped romper is from Forever 21’s contemporary collection, which runs larger than Forever 21 sizes. I still sized up to a medium, though, for a comfortable fit on the bottom. This romper, with its navy and pink stripes, is an easy casual choice for any warm-weather day. I can see myself wearing it to a few outdoor festivals in S. Louis this summer.

Renaissance Mall, Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino

I actually did some clothing shopping while in Curacao. The Renaissance Mall has a Mango store that I couldn’t resist. I love Mango and had only shopped the store online until encountering this physical store in Curacao. The prices in NAF (the currency in Curacao) converted to the standard US prices too. I bought this hip romper and this fabulous printed blouse.

Spring Getaway Style: One-Piece Evening Wear

Willemstad is such a tranquil city. Even though there was some traffic from the two huge cruise ships docked while I was there, there was a stillness about the city. But, at night (on the weekend), Willemstad came alive. The bars were bustling. The casinos were packed. There was live music and dancing everywhere.

If there is live music, I’m there. So, Howard and I decided to dine outside at one of the Rif Fort restaurants since there was a band jamming right in the area.

Jumpsuit: Ella Moss (on sale)

Sandals: J.Crew (want, love)
Tote: Kate Spade Saturday (similar, similar)

Earrings: Kendra Scott (new for spring)
Watch: Movado (silver stylesimilar Skagen style)

Lip: Mac “Fashion Legacy” liquid lipcolourMac “Beet” lip pencil

For the occasion, I reached for a one-piece wonder, my jumpsuit by Ella Moss. I purchased it on sale in Anthropologie in the middle of winter. I just had to have it because of the bold, abstract, all-over striped print. By the way, I’m really glad I got to try on the jumpsuit in-store because I realized I needed to size up to a medium for a relaxed fit on the bottom.

I’ve relied a lot on one-piece wonders during this trip because they take the guesswork out of planning outfits. Jumpsuits, in particular, are a favorite choice because they’re modern and so effortlessly stylish. All I needed to complete my look this night were earrings, sandals, and a bag. Easy breezy.

Spring Getaway Style: A Versatile Maxi Dress

I arrived in Curacao last Thursday, checked into the Renaissance Resort, got fresh, and was ready to hit the town. First stop, food. Howard and I decided to have dinner at the resort’s Infinity Beach Bar & Grill. I threw on my blue pleated chiffon maxi dress because it seemed perfect for the evening, and it unpacked free of wrinkles. I didn’t know it was wrinkle-resistant when I purchased it but thank goodness it is because ironing pleats is such a chore.

Dress: Express (available in select stores)

Bag: Target One Spot

Sandals: Tory Burch (similar, option)

Earrings: Kendra Scott (new for spring)

Watch: Movado (in silver, Skagen option)

Lip: Mac “Dangerously Red” lipstick, Mac “Beet” lip pencil

Since my main travel tote was still stuffed with my travel essentials, I decided to rock my beach bag that night. Would you believe that I found this beautiful striped tote in the Target One Spot? It’s only $5 and is also available in a pink stripe and a blue stripe. This $5 bag served me well this trip.

The ambiance and view at Infinity were a perfect welcome to Curacao. We arrived just in time to watch the sunset, and I couldn’t think of a more dreamy place to do so. I was also pleased that the staff was willing to work with me to create a vegan meal. I believe I had a vegetable stir-fry over a bed of jasmine rice that night.

Vacation-ready Maxi Dresses:

Spring Getaway Style: Tropical Florals

There’s just something about tropical florals that screams vacation-ready. And, this French Connection romper (now on sale) has the coolest floral reef print. It’s super comfortable too with its jersey fabric and subtle volume. This romper was an easy choice for a day of exploring Willemstad.

Howard and I started the day with breakfast at the Renaissance’s Nautilus restaurant. Nautilus hosts a popular breakfast buffet in the mornings that seems to draw both locals and visitors. As a vegan, I was happy that there was tea and lots of fruit available. Immediately after breakfast, we hit the pavement to explore the city. Flat sandals were a must for me. I purchased this fringe pair at Kate Spade Saturday before the store closed for good.

On the Queen Emma Bridge, Curacao

The vibrant colorful Willemstad landscapes are a photographer’s dream, especially this color-loving photographer. The scenes there are seriously picture-perfect. I snapped this picture while having an al fresco lunch at La Bahia, a restaurant with the most magnificent view of St. Anna Bay.

I wasn’t kidding about doing a lot of walking this day. Thank goodness for comfy flats! By the way, my romper has straps that I like to wear as a crisscrossed halter, but I wore them down that day to avoid the weird tan line.

Spring Getaway Style: The Chic Cover-Up

While in Curacao, I stayed at the Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino, which is centrally located in the capital city of Curacao—Willemstad. I had walking access to so many major attractions, from the Rif Fort to the Queen Emma Bridge that connects the city’s historic centre—Punda and Otrobanda. Wait until you see the photographs I snapped of the stunning landscapes.

One of my favorite things about staying at the Renaissance, though, was that it offered the most serene spaces for lounging. After a busy first day of exploring the city, my husband and I opted for a day of tranquility. And, the sea-view infinity pool at our hotel was perfect for that.

We got up bright and early to catch the sunrise, one of my favorite things to do. It was so beautiful. I wore my mesh inset one-piece swimsuit, seen before in the #NOFOMO post. To move around the area for breakfast and drinks later, I relied on my crochet romper cover-up.

I felt so comfortable and confident in this little romper. The crochet and lace trim details are so adorable. This swimsuit cover-up looks and feels so much more luxurious than its $44 price. It fits true to size too. I’m wearing a size small.
