Tropical Fever

I may not be going home to St. Kitts this summer, but wearing tropical prints has helped me bring a little island flair to the Lou. I found the tropical tank featured today in H&M. The top is $17.95, but I got an extra 15% off when I used the coupon I received for donating old clothes at my local H&M store. Got old clothes? You can drop them off at your nearest H&M through June 20.

I wore this tank top paired with my J.Crew pleated crepe shorts (now on sale) to a pool party recently. This past weekend, though, the tropical top was worn with boyfriend jeans, d’orsay sandals, and a woven tote.

Fall Trends on the Off-Price Market: Faux Leather

Off-price retailers have done an amazing job of shifting their image.  Remember back in the day when we had to be especially picky in those stores, sifting through items from last season and irregulars?  Today, you can step into any off-price store and find what’s hot right now.

Faux leather and leather is projected to be huge this Fall.  I was pleased, then, to walk into a local Ross Dress for Less store and spot a huge collection of chic dresses with leather accents.  And, get this?  They were all by amazing designers and under $30!

I’m embracing the leather trend this year for the first time.  So, in preparation for Fall, I snagged a little black dress with faux leather raglan sleeves and faux leather panels at the sides.   It was a steal, too, at just $22.99 (compare at $69).

Back to Black

White and the combination of black and white may be trending this summer, but all black is a multiseason classic.

Today’s look was inspired by the necklace, the Vince Camuto ‘Pyramid Rocks’ collar necklace.  I found this piece on clearance in TJ Maxx recently.  It was $48 (originally $138).  The necklace is such a standout piece with its satiny rope threads, marbelized stone pendants, and goldtone plated slides.  I envision wearing the necklace against brights.  Picture it with yellow.  Nice, right?  For today, though, it’s all about black.  A black tee is paired with black ponte knit pants
