Color Blocking 2 Of The Biggest Colors Of The Year

Let the countdown to spring and all the standout colors spring will bring begin! I’ve certainly been enjoying the continued brightening of colors every fashion season for the past few years. They’re getting brighter and more cheerful every year and offer so much incentive to start color blocking.

I believe strongly in dressing for our current realities, which for many of us means we’re home a lot more than usual. My loungewear and smart casual wardrobe has expanded accordingly. Just when I was getting bored with joggers, brands began making them feel fresh again with colorful options. When I saw my absolute favorite pair of joggers at the moment (this style from Tarjay) drop in a few new colors, I snagged them quickly.

Seriously, I vouch for the Joy Lab french terry joggers. This new purple pair (and the coral one I bought with it) rounds out my collection of 6 of them. Yes, 6 pairs. It’s curve-flattering fit and the 7/8 length for me! There’s something special about the fabric too. It feels soft, it’s machine washable and dry-able, and it’s durable. I wear and wash them weekly, and there’s no pilling or snagging or fading. When you find such a gem, you stock up.

For a little spring color play, I paired the purple joggers with a blue sweater (see the sweater style in green worn here). These shades of purple and blue are analogous colors, making them mix well together. My navy blue blazer from Zara worked well as an additional layer for warmth and for dressing up the casual separates.

This entire look is anchored by the Reese Pullover Crop sweater and the Nina skirt in a striking mandarin color. Both pieces are by Hanifa, a go-to brand for bold colors and unique textures. The statement, woven sandals are by the footwear and accessory brand Shekudo. Every spring step would be fun and colorful in these beauties. If you love a good mini bag, Brandon Blackwood needs to be on your radar. This powder blue bag is a perfect choice for spring and summer and pops against the Hanifa set. The collection features 8 styles with 14 variants. It’s filled with everyday wear staples that’ll suit your summer needs no matter what you’re up to. Quarantining at home? We got you. Road trip? We got you. Staycation in your city? We got you. The sizes on each item range from XXS to XXL. The prices are affordable too, ranging from $42 to $85. And, there’s more. Use the code PSYCHE25 to get 25% off your purchase. Without further ado, here’s the Economy of Style dress and my personal favorites from the line.

The Gibsonlook x Economy of Style Off the Shoulder Dress

I get my love of off shoulder styles from my mom. Showing a little clavicle is always in. And, this dress, available in a black gingham seersucker and a navy daisy print, has a striking, fuss-free off shoulder silhouette. Don’t you hate when off shoulder styles don’t stay put? You won’t have that issue with this dress. This fun and flirty dress stays in place.

Sizing? The dress fits true-to-size. For reference, I’m wearing a size small in both print options (and every other style I’m wearing in this post actually). You can also find the Gibsonlook size guide here.

In addition to the striking silhouette, I love how versatile this must-have is. You can dress this up for a summer soiree (whatever that looks like this year) or pair it with sneakers for a day of running around town. Talking about versatility, you can wear the style on or off the shoulders as well. You pick the vibe, this dress can hold you down. I hope you feel as amazing in it as I do every time I rock it.

In these times, I especially appreciate styles that can work overtime and make you feel good at the same time.

The navy print daisy version of the Economy of Style dress is my favorite for travel. It packs so well and is ready to wear when you unpack it, no ironing needed.

Just like gingham, this navy print is so summer.

It moves well too.

Other Gibsonlook Road Trip Collection Favorites

It’s a shame that I won’t be attending my usual white parties this year because the Gibsonlook x Hello Happiness Puff Sleeve Smocked Maxi Dress would be my go-to. Whatever the case, everywhere I wear this light and airy number will be festive.

Who doesn’t love a cute romper? The Gibsonlook x Hello Happiness Off the Shoulder Tie Waist Romper in this gorgeous Coral Canyon color gives me that I’m-on-a-tropical-vacay vibe.

A fit-and-flare silhouette can be such a flattering style. And, the Gibsonlook x DTKAustin Fit and Flare Belted Halter Eyelet Dress gets it so right.

The ruffled skirt is a style staple this summer. The Gibsonlook x Jess Fay Tiered Skirt is a winner. Pair it with the coordinating Gibsonlook x Jess Fay Smocked Detail V Neck Blouse or rock it with a white tee. You simply can’t go wrong with separates this sharp.

I hope you’re as thrilled as I am about the Economy of Style Off the Shoulder Tie Waist Dress and the entire Road Trip collection. Remember to use the code PSYCHE25 for 25% off your purchase. You can see the entire collection HERE. Happy shopping!

The Perfect Summer Slip Dress

Target very quietly dropped a fashion collaboration recently. The megastore partnered with 3 contemporary designers. One of them, the Cushnie for Target collection (see entire collection here), immediately grabbed my attention because of its vibrant colors paired with sleek silhouettes. No doubt, I grabbed a Cushnie dress. It’s available in a few colorways, but this pink and red is my favorite (see how I else I rock the combination here).

Cushnie for Target

No surprise, I was instantly attracted to the Cushnie collection because of its vibrant colors. I was hesitant to actually buy a piece because slip dresses aren’t very forgiving. And, the way my quarantine eating has been going…enough said. This dress, however, has such a flattering cut, especially if you have hips.

Cushnie for Target

Sizing? I’m wearing a size 4. I’d usually have to size up, sometimes up to an 8, to allow dresses in this silhouette to properly skim over my hips. Not needed in this style.

In a color combination I absolutely love and a classic silhouette, this Cushnie for Target dress is a keeper. It’s a versatile piece that can be easily dressed up or down. I’m so thrilled I found one in my size.

2020 St. Louis Magazine A-List Award Winner

Such an honor! I’m grateful to St. Louis Magazine for naming me the “Fashionista to  Follow” in its 2020 A-List awards, a celebration of the region’s best. I’m so thrilled. Of course, I had to share the great news with you because your support allows me to do the work I do here. So, thank you! To check out my feature piece and to read all about this year’s winners, go here.

In today’s look, I’m sharing another H&M find. I don’t know what happened in the style department at H&M, but they’re coming for everybody. Their selections have gotten so good that I check H&M first when I have a style need. Right now, I’m rebuilding my dress collection.

What I’m wearing:

Dress | Sandals | Earrings | Lip: Fenty Gloss Bomb”$weetmouth”

This dress, which was initially released in a light beige color, recently became available in a bright pink and orange. Those color options gave me the push I needed to add-to-cart. The 30% off coupon I had at the time of ordering helped too.

When it arrived, it was everything I had hoped it would be. The fabric (100% cotton) feels amazing. The plunging v-neck is super low but not too low that you can’t wear a bra. Puffed sleeves. Flared skirt. What’s not to love?

Sizing? I’m wearing the dress in a size small (my usual H&M size). I’m confident, though, that I could size down to an extra small, which would cinch the elasticized waist just a tad more. Since this dress has a voluminous fit, that detail is mostly inconsequential.

Thanks again to St. Louis Magazine for the amazing A-List honor. Be sure to check out the article here.
