Fancy in a Floral Cutout Top

I featured the Anthropologie ‘Orlaya’ top, a Sunday in Brooklyn creation, in at least two posts before—5 Under $50 at Anthro and Spring’s Favorite Tops. This swingy and feminine top in a neutral hue kept demanding my attention because of its super fancy floral cutout design. When the top, which originally retailed for $78, dropped to under $30, I surely snatched one. By the way, if you can locate one in-store, the top is now only $19.95.

In today’s casual look, my Orlaya top is the perfect topper for distressed skinny jeans. Red pumps, a beaded clutch, and a tassel necklace add finishing touches.

Mixing and Matching Favorites

This warm season, I keep reaching for my geometric print blousepurple shorts, and caged shooties. These items are cool, versatile, and hence so easy to wear these days. It only makes sense, then, that they be worn together, right? So, in today’s post, three of my favorites meet in a casual chic kinda look.

J.Crew Pleated Crepe Shorts on Repeat

Last Friday, I was so excited to share my new sale shorts from J.Crew. Cool color. Pretty pleats. Luxe-looking fabric. I couldn’t believe that the pleated crepe shorts were marked down to under $30 in-store (and $35 online). I love these shorts so much that I’ve already worn them again since that last post. This time around, I blocked colors (bold orange with the purple) and wore printed heels.

Shorts and Sanuk Espadrille Flats

It’s about that time of year. The temperature is beginning to rise to a gazillion degrees, and staying cool is becoming a major style priority. To get ready, I’ve added a couple new essentials to my wardrobe.

New shorts? Check! The J.Crew pleated crepe short was a sure-buy because it’s pleated, polished, and has a relaxed fit. Did I mention I purchased the shorts for under $30 in-store? That’s right! Forget the online price, these shorts are marked down to $49.99 (orig. $75) with an additional 40% off in-store. The orange color is also on sale in-store.

New flats? Check! Tis the season of the espadrille flat. And, the Sanuk toe the line flat, with its right-on-trend ikat print and cushiony footbed, will complete many summer looks, from jeans and a tee to sundresses. These flats are breathable, comfy, and chic.

Saint Louis Fashion Week: Spring into Fashion

And, we’re off! Spring into Fashion, the first runway show of the Spring 2014 season of STLFW, went down last night at the Saint Louis Galleria Mall. In addition to delivering a steady flow of up-to-the-minute style inspiration, the event raised over $3,000 for Friends of Wings, a St.Louis-based non-profit organization that holistically supports children with life-threatening illnesses.

Last night’s show featured styles by several of the Galleria’s top stores—Fossil, Francesca’s, True Religion, White House Black Market, Banana Republic, Bebe, Tommy Bahama, and Anthropologie. Shoes were provided by Aldo Shoes and Sperry Top-Sider.

From masterfully mixed prints to a safari chic ensemble, here are my favorite styles fresh from the runway:

Left: Anthropologie dress, Anthropologie shoulder bag

Middle: Francesca’s top,  Francesca’s shorts

Right: Banana Republic top, Banana Republic shorts

Want to elevate your style this spring? Day one of STLFW gave us the green light to mix prints, showed us that beautiful blooms produce iconic style, and demonstrated that jumpsuits and jogger pants can be super sophisticated.

Mixed prints: Francesca’s top, Francesca’s skirt

Moody florals: White House Black Market dress

Graphic florals: Anthropologie dress

Jumpsuits: Bebe sleeveless jumpsuit

Jogger Pants: True Religion camo pants

The next stop on the STLFW train is Saks for a special presentation by Rebecca Minkoff tonight. Check out the full schedule in Get Ready for Saint Louis Fashion Week.
