The Big Sales I Have to Shop This Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend is usually a weekend to chill for me. This year, however, a few of my favorite items in stores I frequent have had their prices slashed so low that I feel like I should at least visit the stores to try things on. There are some big sales, y’all!

Take this jumpsuit, for example. I wanted it for my Curacao trip back in March, but I passed on it because I just don’t like to pay full price in Anthroplogie. It took 2 months for Anthropologie to mark down the jumpsuit, but the first 50% price cut made it worth the wait. This weekend, sale items like this jumpsuit are even an additional 30% off at Anthro.

I’m wearing the jumpsuit in a size medium. Luckily for me, my local store had both the small and medium in stock, which allowed me to compare the fit of both sizes. In the end, the small was simply too tight on the bottom.

Bag: Tory Burch

Earrings: Kendra Scott (love this new pair)

Ring: Kendra Scott (on sale)

Watch: Movado (in silver)

Lip: Mac “Starlett Scarlet” lipstick, Mac “Kiss Me Quick” lip pencil

I’ve wanted the hibiscus belted jumpsuit I’m wearing today since first seeing it in an Ann Taylor mailing. The bold floral print and the hip silhouette had me at hello. My local stores never received it, but my favorite store associate helped me order one during an earlier promotion. By the way, did you know that orders placed in-store ship for free at Ann Taylor?

I sized down to a 2 in the jumpsuit for the best fit. The size 4 was slightly large on top. The jumpsuit has an elasticized waist and a full bottom, which makes sizing down easy for those of us with hips.

I’ve been saving this jumpsuit for a few spring events in May. It’s such a standout piece, but it can be styled and restyled by changing accessories. I’m wearing it with the self-tie belt today, but I’ll surely be switching the belt to create a new look next time. The shoes I wear with it can change the entire look as well.

The One-Piece Wonder I Wear Everywhere

Have you all noticed the mega sale on sale at Anthropologie right now? Sale items are an additional 40% off. Items I’ve been wanting are priced so low now. The navy utility jumpsuit, for example, is now under $50 (orig. $148). While waiting for that markdown, I found the novelist drawstring jumpsuit featured today also marked down to under $50 (orig. $138).

What I’m wearing:

Jumpsuit: Madewell (on sale under $50)

Pumps: J.Crew

Bag: Tory Burch

Earrings: J.Crew (old)

Lip: Mac Versicolour stain (Forever Darling), Mac “He Said She Said” lip pencil

Ring: Kendra Scott (on sale)

Watch: Movado (in silver)

This navy jumpsuit is such a one-piece wonder. It has an easy, relaxed fit in a drapey crepe. It also has flattering details like a wrap neckline, rolled sleeves, and a tie waist. It’s so easy to slip on that I wear it everywhere.

Sizing? I’m wearing a size small.

I’ve worn the jumpsuit with bright d’Orsay pumps (as seen today) to hang out with Howard. I’ve worn it with my colorblock flats for a day of shopping and moving around the city. I can’t wait to wear it with sandals. A simple switch of shoes can make this jumpsuit perfect for all kinds of occasions.

I like showing off the wrap neckline on the jumpsuit so I haven’t been wearing it with necklaces and choosing statement earrings instead. My earrings are an old beaded pair from J.Crew. I’ve been eying some of the new earring styles in Kendra Scott’s Summer 2016 collection though. The Lauren earrings in crushed abalone shell have my name all of them.

The Tory Burch York Small Buckle Tote in French Grey is my new everyday bag for the spring and summer. It’s the perfect size for carrying my daily essentials and the grey goes with everything.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fashion Myth: Black and Brown Don’t Go Together

The major trends of recent years have made one thing clear—fashion rules are meant to be broken. Don’t wear white after labor. Says who? Lately, I’ve been drawn to the combinations of navy and black as well as black and brown, two color combinations that used to occupy permanent positions on fashion don’t lists.

In today’s post, I’m proudly pairing black with brown. My favorite way to combine the colors is by allowing one color to dominate and the other to serve as an accent. In this look, my black draped jumpsuit is holding down the outfit while a brown belt adds a certain interest.

Black, brown, and mixed metals? Absolutely. My favorite mixed metal pieces, including my Kendra Scott “Adair” earrings and my J.Crew “Fireburst” bracelet, which combine gunmetal and gold, are the perfect finishing touches for the black and brown look.

Have you tried the Mac “Vamplify” glosses? They’ve made this matte lipstick lover a fan of gloss again.

Shopping for a new jumpsuit? This draped jumpsuit is perfect for fall. It has long sleeves and is easy to layer. I’m wearing it in a size small. And, just so you know, it’s on sale right now for $36 (originally $44).

Have a wonderful weekend!
