The Styles You Need to Survive White Party Season

Memorial Day has (unofficially) started summer. So, let white party season begin. Don’t get caught off guard when your white party invitations start rolling. Stay ready by stocking one or two of the versatile pieces in the widget at the end of this post

I’m wearing a dress I purchases last year for an all-white beach fete. Its lightweight, breezy vibe made it perfect for the occasion. I was also drawn to the dress because its top offered a few options for styling. Want to see how I wore differently? See how here.

Finding Clothing that Makes you Feel Beautiful

That go-to dress. That statement jacket. That figure-flattering pants. We all need those style warriors in our closets that make us feel our best everytime. For me? That’s anything with a halter neckline and a fit-and-flare silhouette. So, naturally, when I first glimpsed today’s featured jumpsuit, I knew I wanted it. When I realized the Anthropologie checked wide-leg jumpsuit (shop it here) was by one of my favorite designers, Tracy Reese, I had to have it.

What I’m wearing:

Jumpsuit | Sandals (option) | Earrings | Mac “Heroine” lipstick

You may remember that I featured this jumpsuit in the post Gingham is Getting Dressed up this Spring. I walked into Anthropologie one day and received a 20% off coupon card, and that was just the nudge I needed to finally order this stunning one piece.

The jumpsuit has a silhouette that many would find flattering. For we pear-shaped gals though? It’s perfect! It highlights the smallest part of our bodies and beautifully flows over the hips. I’m typically a size 4 on top and 6-8 on the bottom, and I got this in a size small, which fits fabulously.

Gingham is Getting Dressed up this Spring

Gingham is undoubtedly an IT print this spring. We’re seeing it everywhere and for good reason. There are just so many cool ways to wear the print (see here, here, and here for inspiration). Now, you might already have all the spring gingham print basics you need. The check pieces in today’s post, though, are everything but basic. From a jumpsuit to a twin set to a tiered gown, these pieces show that gingham can get fancy.

You Need this Black Jumpsuit in Your Life

On my last trip home, I attended a gala. Before traveling, in preparation for the event, I spent some time thinking about my formal look. I knew I wanted something that was long, modern, and versatile. When I found today’s featured black jumpsuit (shop it here), I knew it was THE ONE.

Earrings | Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

The jumpsuit was a hopeful at first sight because of its fit-and-flare silhouette. That silhouette is one of the most flattering on we pear shapes. And, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful fit, right?

That knotted detail on the bodice though? That little touch adds so much modern flavor to this classic jumpsuit. I love architectural features like this one so much that I let them take all the shine. I opted, then, to wear statement earrings only and hence nothing on the neckline.

Beautiful details on a classic silhouette made this one piece (shop it here) easy to get ready for my event. At the same time, it’s also so classic and simple that I can wear it again and again to all sorts of occasions. Don’t you just love ‘formal’ attire that you can repeat?

Like Mother, Like Daughter: Celebrating in Lilly

Visiting my mom is my favorite reason for going home to St. Kitts. 2018 is already off to a fantastic start, then, because I got to bring in the new year with her. Of course, as style enthusiasts, we seized the opportunity to do another mother daughter style photoshoot (see the last one here). Big shout-out to Lilly Pulitzer for allowing us to celebrate this magical moment in lovely Lilly outfits.

Mom: Lilly Pulitzer Corie top | Lilly Pulitzer Chantal Pant

Me: Lilly Pulitzer Myri Romper | Earrings (now on sale)

From browsing old photo albums to talking about the future, I love spending time with my mom. She’s my number one fan, and everyone needs a dose of that kind of love and encouragement from time to time. Am I right?

I’m a huge fan of Lilly’s solid designs (see here and here). But, the Swirling Seadream print is one of my faves because of its happy colors and wavy pattern. The print is available in a variety of styles to suit many style sensibilities.

No surprise, I was drawn to the Myri romper. This short romper with its stunning off-the-shoulder silhouette had me at first sight. My mom, who also loves to show off her clavicle, opted for an off-the-shoulder top that she paired with white skinny pants (shop her pants here).
