A Few of My Favorite Things for Spring

I got to rock a few of my spring favorites earlier this week because it was unusually warm in St. Louis. I hit the streets in a white, off-the-shoulder top, my go-to skinny jeans, snakeskin loafers, and my bright yellow bag. This look will pretty much be one of my spring uniforms.

I’ve been partnering with Coach on an Instagram campaign to showcase one of my favorite bags from the brand’s Pre-Spring 2017 collection. No surprise, my favorite is the Coach Dinky Bag in Black Copper/Flax Oxblood (a gorgeous yellow color). I’ve had so much fun styling this bag in one of my favorite hues.

Since downsizing to my Tory Burch Marion Crossbody bag (now on sale) last fall, I’ve grown to favor a smaller bag. So, the smaller size of this new Coach Dinky is a feature I enjoy as well.

Don’t even get me started on versatility. I love a bag that can go from hands-free crossbody style to shoulder bag to clutch in a flash. I simply removed the strap to wear it as a clutch today. The strap can also be adjusted to be worn as a shoulder bag too.

I completed today’s spring favorites look with a pair of snakeskin loafers that I found for a steal in Century 21 while in NYC last weekend. Before finding this pair, I’d been waiting for a markdown on the J.Crew’s Audrey flats in snakeskin (now up to 30% off in current store promo).

Not-So-Basic Basics for Your Spring Wardrobe

Spring is coming, y’all! So, I’m starting to round up the basics that’ll hold down my style during the season. But, these basics are not so basic. Need a new pair of skinny pants? Choose them in color. Need a a few new shirts to top off your favorite looks? The featured blue striped shirt with its sexy crossover detail is a must-have. Wardrobe pleading for a new pair of flats? The featured pair below gives you rich color and funky lace-up details.  Shopping for a new holdall tote? This classic navy tote is a standout because of its intricate whipstitching. Here’s how I’d put all these not-so-basic basics together.

How to Keep Your Fine Leathers Safe During the Holidays

True story. I attended a holiday party recently and ended up drenched in a glass of red wine. I was chatting with a girlfriend. We were both sipping on glasses of a full-bodied Cabernet. She slipped, and her glass of red wine came raining down on me. I was calm at first because I was wearing all black. But, then, I looked down and noticed that my brand new Tory Burch Marion Suede Crossbody bag (now on sale) was also covered in red wine. Yikes!

Another friend sprung into action and got me some napkins to start dabbing the suede. Still, my wine-colored bag was now a much darker shade of wine in spots. At that point, I was certain that my bag was ruined. You know how easy suede stains. Miraculously, though, by the time I got home from the party, my bag had dried to its original state. How in the world? Well, I had pretreated my bag with a coat of Wilsons Leather & Suede Protector Spray, and apparently this stuff really works.

I’ve been using the Wilsons Leather & Suede Protector Spray for years on all of my handbags. It works by creating a resistant barrier that repels water and stains. It’s easy to use too. Simply spray the product evenly over your leather goods, allow them to dry (at least an hour), and that’s it. It’s also important to apply the product before using your fine leathers.

Now that I know how well the spray works, I’m going to start using it on my shoes too. Need to protect fine leathers? I highly recommend this product, y’all!

A Luxe, Right-on-trend, Wool-Free Sweater

I low-key dislike sweater weather. Why? Because too many sweaters are made of wool and other itchy fabrics like angora. Yikes. I couldn’t survive 30 minutes in a wool sweater because I’m sensitive to the fabric. And, it’s so hard to find nice sweaters free of wool. When I find a chic wool-free sweater, then, I buy it in every color. Today’s featured sweater, with its sassy front zip, is stylish, soft, and most importantly, free of wool.

The sweater initially caught my eye because of its front zip that opens up to create a sexy plunging v-neck. It also has a tunic length with a circle hem that makes it perfect for throwing on over our favorite skinnies for fall. It’s the kind of sweater that’ll be an easy choice for casual outings.

Wool-free sweater

For date night last Saturday, I paired my new wool-free sweater with my favorite dark rinse skinny jeans (under $30). To jazz up the casual combination, I wore my yellow feather pumps. Have you seen this new pair in a similar color (now on sale)?
