How To Get Ready For 3 Summer Events For Under $150

This post is sponsored by Specialty Retailers, Inc. All opinions are my own.

Summer style can sometimes require a lot of preparation. Getting ready can even feel overwhelming because there is no shortage of things to do and occasions to celebrate. The good news is getting all the outfits you need doesn’t have to break the bank. Today, I’m bringing the receipts. This post features 3 fabulous summer looks (head to toe) that I found at Gordmans for under $150 TOTAL.

I love shopping at off-price stores to get great deals on designer and name brand styles. Gordmans is one of my favorite off-price retailers because they always have the lowest prices. Furthermore, if you ever find an item with a lower price on an item somewhere else, Gordmans will not only match the competitor’s price, they will also give you a $5 Gordmans gift card. This Lowest Price Guarantee program shows that Gordmans is seriously committed to having the best prices.

Summer Style For Less (3 Looks Under $150)

Summer Glam

When I visited Gordmans, I was specifically shopping for a special-occasion outfit. I have a wedding to attend, so I wanted a dress for that. I was excited to see what was in-store because Gordmans always has fun finds and exciting deals. I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this Bebe off-the-shoulder, bell-sleeve, sheath dress for only $29.99 (orig. $129).

How beautiful is the fuchsia color though?

To complete my special-occasion outfit, I found a pair of Nine West blue suede, lace-up sandals for only $19.88 (orig. $108). They are the perfect hue to create a beautiful colorblocked ensemble.

Poolside Style

No summer is complete without a few visits to the pool or the beach. There’s no need to splurge on designer swimsuits when you can find them at Gordmans for less. I literally did a happy dance when I found this Sam Edelman raffia print one-piece swimsuit for $27.98 (orig. $110). This suit is currently available at full price in a few major department stores. I’ve seen it there. I don’t know how Gordmans does it, but I’m glad that they are changing the off-price retailer game.

The print. The plunge neckline. This swimsuit is stunning. By the way, my Hawaiian Tropic coverup, which can also be worn as a wrap dress, is only $6.48 (orig. $49.99) at Gordmans. And, the mirrored aviators? Only $7.99, y’all.

Girls Night/Date Night

Finally, every gal needs a versatile one piece as a go-to summer style. Of course, I have a thing for jumpsuits. So, finding this Bebe jumpsuit at only $29.99 (orig. $119) at Gordmans was an extra special treat. It has stripes and an off-the-shoulder silhouette. Doesn’t get better than that!

To finish this look, I reached for my Nine West sandals, of course.

That’s it! 3 looks for a total of $122.31 plus tax. That’s the kind of fashion mathematics I enjoy. You too? It’s a great time to visit your local Gordmans. Stop by your local store on July 21 for a special anniversary event. Be sure to enter the Gordmans Anniversary Sweepstakes (ends on July 16) for the chance to win a gift card to splurge at the anniversary event.

The Power Suit is the Smart and Glamorous Choice this Year

The power suit has been dominating runway trends for a few seasons. And, this year, the style is holding its own. Now, if you’ve spent most of your career trying to escape the stuffiness of a suit, there’s no need to worry. The 2018 power suit is bold and fun. And, more importantly, no matter your style, there is a trouser suit that’ll make you feel powerful and look glamorous.

Express Power Suit

What I’m Wearing:

Boyfriend blazer | High-waisted ankle pants | Camisole

Shoes (old) | Bag | Sunglasses ($9.99) | Lipstick

I wore this trouser suit on Valentine’s Day in lieu of a dress, and it was a sharp look. By the way, the suit is currently 40% off (shop the jacket on sale here and the pants here). I was initially drawn to the set because of its chic black and white stripes. When I tried it on, though, I discovered so many more features I loved.

Both the jacket and pants are made of a super lightweight fabric that feels soft and smooth. This suit is far from stuffy.

The pants have a flattering high waist and a silhouette that perfectly contours (without clinging) curves. Just so you know, I always size up in pants from at this store. For reference, I’m wearing the jacket in a small and the pants in a size 8.

I was hesitant about the ruched sleeves on the blazer because that feature eliminates the option of wearing the sleeves long. But, I usually wear my sleeves rolled up anyway because it’s such a hip styling. Besides, the overall relaxed vibe of this blazer was too fresh and fashion-forward to pass on it.

What I also love about this set is the versatility it brings to my overall wardrobe. I’m already imagining the many outfits I can create using the separates. Stay tuned for those looks. In the meantime, check out all the ways I rocked one blazer in this post.

How to Ease a Little Red into Your Valentine’s Day Style

Red has become one of my favorite colors to wear. It’s such a power color. So, if Valentine’s Day offers an excuse to sport head-to-toe red, I’m here for it. If, however, you’d like to separate yourself from the sea of red on Valentine’s Day, you can get creative about easing a little red into your look. I’ve discussed adding pops of red using accessories (see that post here). Today, the spotlight is on fabulous separates in stunning red prints.

Red Prints

I found today’s pleated midi skirt in the Valentine’s shop at H&M. I was immediately drawn to its vertical stripes in a striking combination of red, navy, and black. That color combination expands the styling opportunities. I chose to wear it today with a navy top, but it’ll look equally fabulous with red, black, or white.

What I love most about pleated midi skirts (shop mine here) is that they wear effortlessly and move magically.

You Need this Black Jumpsuit in Your Life

On my last trip home, I attended a gala. Before traveling, in preparation for the event, I spent some time thinking about my formal look. I knew I wanted something that was long, modern, and versatile. When I found today’s featured black jumpsuit (shop it here), I knew it was THE ONE.

Earrings | Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

The jumpsuit was a hopeful at first sight because of its fit-and-flare silhouette. That silhouette is one of the most flattering on we pear shapes. And, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful fit, right?

That knotted detail on the bodice though? That little touch adds so much modern flavor to this classic jumpsuit. I love architectural features like this one so much that I let them take all the shine. I opted, then, to wear statement earrings only and hence nothing on the neckline.

Beautiful details on a classic silhouette made this one piece (shop it here) easy to get ready for my event. At the same time, it’s also so classic and simple that I can wear it again and again to all sorts of occasions. Don’t you just love ‘formal’ attire that you can repeat?

How to Look Like a Million Bucks this Winter

Winter, especially the severely cold kind we’re experiencing in St. Louis right now, puts a lot of demands on our styles. Of course, we want to be our usually stylish selves. But, we also have to prioritize staying warm. That can certainly be a chore, but it also presents some cool opportunities for having fun with style. Today, I’m sharing my top 3 winter style tips for looking like a million bucks when it’s freezing outside.

Winter style tips

Max Studio jacquard jacket | Express velvet leggings | Naturalizer boots (on sale)

Gucci skinny belt | Kendra Scott ear climbers (new option) | Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

1. Layer Stylishly

So, we have to layer to add insulation, right? Layer smartly and stylishly. I’m wearing my winter style formula in this look—tights, a couple tops, and boots. That is it. The overall look is luxe, however, because each layer adds a jazzy touch. My tights, for example, are a standout velvet pair (get yours here).

2. Choose Luxe Textures and Fabrics

From velvet to flannel to corduroy, in addition to being warm, cold-weather fabrics look very luxurious when chosen wisely. In addition, they mix and match so well. In the featured all-black look, I mix jacquard, velvet, and leather. And, the result is a sophisticated-looking combination.

3. Have Fun Balancing Function and Style

Be creative with your winter essentials. Throw a belt around a coat. Add a fun scarf. In this look, I transformed a jacquard jacket into a kimono top. The single-button jacket has a deep v-neck and an open bottom, both features not conducive to the freezing temps in my city. So, I decided to wrap the jacket, kimono style, and hold it in place with a skinny belt.
