Get Glam in These Non-Boring, All-Black Outfits

Yes, I wear black sometimes. When I do, I have so much fun with it. All-black outfits need not be boring. And, the moment I saw this Topshop Tufty jumpsuit, I knew it would be the perfect, non-boring, black number to add to my wardrobe. I actually wore it a few weeks ago to catch Ledisi performing with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at Powell Hall.

Would you believe I found this Topshop Tufty Playsuit on sale for $30!?! Unfortunately, it sold out online before I could share the good news with you.

Party. New Year’s Eve celebrations. I envisioned this number being easy to grab for any occasion that demands an instant glam. The tufty detailing at the top and sleeves takes this romper to soaring style heights.

I’m wearing the romper with my go-to clear sandals. These barely-there sandals complement so much. Want proof? See them worn here, here, and here.

The fabulous thing about statement-making, all-black outfits is that they don’t require much in terms of accessorizing. Toss one on and go. I’m here for that, so I rounded up a few options at the end of this post. We all need reliable wardrobe staples like these, right?

All White Outfits

When the occasion calls for all white, I always opt for a one piece wonder. And, y’all, when I saw this jumpsuit with all its dramatic ruffles, I had to have it. And, I know, it looks expensive. But, it’s not! This beauty retails for only $54.

This jumpsuit is my first item from Red Dress. I relied heavily on the size chart to determine my size. I’m glad I did, too, because I’d often just order a small, but I definitely needed a medium.

I was immediately smitten by the ruffles on the bodice of this dress. 2019 is the year to be a little extra with your style, and this jumpsuit gets that.

I’m always here for a sexy plunging neckline as well. The jumpsuits gives us a double v-neckline. It dips in the back too.

Make Bold Moves In Bright Suits

The power suit dominated trends in 2018, and I’m thrilled to see the trend holding strong in 2019 as well. In addition to oozing with woman boss vibes, I love how easy it is easy to make a power suit your own (read more about that here). Want an easy way to update your power suit for this year? Choose tailored trousers and coordinating blazers in bold and bright hues. Yes, bright suits are having a moment.

Bold Bright Suits

What I’m wearing:

Blazer (also heresimilar, similar) | TankPants (new style!) | Shoes (similar, option, option)

Lip: Mac “Heroine” | Nails: Essie “Minimalistic”

Bright suits are bold, but they’re also quite versatile. You may recognize my pink blazer because I’ve shared how I wear it with jeans (see how here and here). Expertly tailored separates can be worn in so many different ways.

In today’s look, I’m wearing the blazer with a coordinating pair of pink pants. By the way, the pants aren’t the same shade of pink, they’re just in the same color family. I ordered the pink high-waisted trousers hoping they’d be the same color as my blazer. When I realize they weren’t, I decided to embrace the opportunity to create a beautiful tone on tone outfit. Besides, these pants were too fabulous to return. For reference, I’m wearing them in a size 8.

To play with color even more, I added my orange d’Orsay pumps. Pink and orange are always happy together, right?

In lieu of a red dress, I’m thinking about making this bright suit my Valentine’s Day outfit. What’s your ideal V-day outfit?

I’m sharing two holiday season looks below as well as my top tips for upgrading your style for the holidays.

Holiday Season Look #1

holiday season style

What I’m wearing:

Red coat | Striped turtleneck | Faux-leather skirt | Gold circle earrings

1. Choose luxe fabrics

One of the easiest ways to upgrade your style during the holiday season is by adding luxe textures and fabrics into your wardrobe. Two of my favorites this time of year are undoubtedly leather (and faux-leather, of course) and velvet. And, y’all, J.Crew Factory has so many options available right now. Today’s featured faux-leather mini skirt won me at first sight, but I’m also eying the velvet skinny jeans (you must see the Raspberry color), the velvet mini skirt, and the velvet wrap top.

2. Add metallics with your jewelry

Real talk. When I saw the J.Crew Factory gold earring set, I purchased 3 of them as gifts for friends. I’m wearing the gold circle earrings from the set. But, you must see the pearl loop studs included in the gift set as well. Every pair of earrings in the set adds that perfect shimmer to every look this holiday season.

3. Go bold with your coat

I don’t even own a coat in a boring color. What I do own, however, is the J.Crew Factory City Coat in green (see me rocking it here). The new Spectrum Red color in the City Coat screams holiday-ready. So, I had to have it and highly recommend it.

Holiday Season Look #2

What I’m wearing:

White button-down shirt | Gigi pants with velvet tux stripe | Red coat | Gold circle earrings

4. Opt for classic black with a twist

Nothing outperforms wardrobe classics. They’re reliable. They’re versatile. But, classics can be jazzy like these J.Crew Factory Gigi pants with the velvet tux stripe. I envision styling and restyling these beauties all holiday season. They’ll pair well with the striped turtleneck featured above. I can wear them with a white button-down shirt.

5. Choose festive color combos

Red, black, white, and sparkle are reliable options for looking and feeling festive this holiday season. The combination is holding down both looks in this post. I’m also a fan of the deep emerald greens this season. See that green color I love on the velvet wrap top.

Get a head start on your holiday shopping by winning the $100 J.Crew Factory Gift Card giveaway at the end of this post. Entries can be made until 11:59 p.m. CST on 11/21/18.
