Fresh-For-Summer Color Blocking

Coming at you with a color boost today. I’m so excited about summer 2020 color trends. The hues are happy and bright. And, as an added bonus, they pair well with each other (summer color blocking). Today, I’m color blocking a couple of my favorite colors, giving a brand new look to an old suit.

What I’m Wearing:

Gap shirt(old) | Shorts (same style new colors) | Blazer (same style new colors)

You’ve seen this yellow shorts suit before (here and here). I wear it often, but I like to style it differently each time. One cool way, I get more wear out of my standout bright pieces is by color blocking. So, no, we don’t all need wardrobes filled with neutrals to achieve styling versatility. Brights can be mixed and matched too.

My paled turquoise shirt pops with the neon yellow shorts and blazer.

My sandals are from Zara. Gosh…with no where to go, I don’t know why I keep buying sandals from Zara this summer. The styles are so interesting, and the price point is low. This print pair, for example, is under $40, but looks quite luxurious.

Of course, I had to coordinate my mask with the overall look. This one is by a local St. Louis designer–Olivia Rae Designs.

The collection features 8 styles with 14 variants. It’s filled with everyday wear staples that’ll suit your summer needs no matter what you’re up to. Quarantining at home? We got you. Road trip? We got you. Staycation in your city? We got you. The sizes on each item range from XXS to XXL. The prices are affordable too, ranging from $42 to $85. And, there’s more. The Gibsonlook x Economy of Style Off the Shoulder Dress

I get my love of off shoulder styles from my mom. Showing a little clavicle is always in. And, this dress, available in a black gingham seersucker and a navy daisy print, has a striking, fuss-free off shoulder silhouette. Don’t you hate when off shoulder styles don’t stay put? You won’t have that issue with this dress. This fun and flirty dress stays in place.

Sizing? The dress fits true-to-size. For reference, I’m wearing a size small in both print options (and every other style I’m wearing in this post actually). You can also find the Gibsonlook size guide here.

In addition to the striking silhouette, I love how versatile this must-have is. You can dress this up for a summer soiree (whatever that looks like this year) or pair it with sneakers for a day of running around town. Talking about versatility, you can wear the style on or off the shoulders as well. You pick the vibe, this dress can hold you down. I hope you feel as amazing in it as I do every time I rock it.

In these times, I especially appreciate styles that can work overtime and make you feel good at the same time.

The navy print daisy version of the Economy of Style dress is my favorite for travel. It packs so well and is ready to wear when you unpack it, no ironing needed.

Just like gingham, this navy print is so summer.

It moves well too.

Other Gibsonlook Road Trip Collection Favorites

It’s a shame that I won’t be attending my usual white parties this year because the Gibsonlook x Hello Happiness Puff Sleeve Smocked Maxi Dress would be my go-to. Whatever the case, everywhere I wear this light and airy number will be festive.

Who doesn’t love a cute romper? The Gibsonlook x Hello Happiness Off the Shoulder Tie Waist Romper in this gorgeous Coral Canyon color gives me that I’m-on-a-tropical-vacay vibe.

A fit-and-flare silhouette can be such a flattering style. And, the Gibsonlook x DTKAustin Fit and Flare Belted Halter Eyelet Dress gets it so right.

The ruffled skirt is a style staple this summer. The Gibsonlook x Jess Fay Tiered Skirt is a winner. Pair it with the coordinating Gibsonlook x Jess Fay Smocked Detail V Neck Blouse or rock it with a white tee. You simply can’t go wrong with separates this sharp.

I hope you’re as thrilled as I am about the Economy of Style Off the Shoulder Tie Waist Dress and the entire Road Trip collection. Remember to use the code PSYCHE25 for 25% off your purchase. You can see the entire collection HERE. Happy shopping!

2 Ways To Wear Your Joggers At Home

Wellness check! My friends, I hope that you are safe and finding a new normal in this time filled with uncertainty and fear. I thought I’d check in, like I always do, with ways I’m using style to navigate tough realities. So, today, I’m sharing my at-home style.

I’ve been working from home for a long time. In the last year, I’ve been intentionally honing an at-home look that resonated with my overall style. The answer has been chic joggers and jogger sets. They’re comfortable while sitting at a desk (or taking a couch break), yet chic enough to wear to run an errand outside. Jogger sets can be so versatile too. You’ve already seen today’s featured set because it’s also one of my favorite travel looks (seen styled for travel here). In today’s post, I’m sharing how I mix up that jogger set for 2 occasions–working solo and Zoom meetings (gosh I’m so over Zoom).

2 Ways To Wear Your Joggers At Home

Joggers style at home

This first look features one of my favorite jogger sets from Zara. I love this set so much that I own it in 2 colors. The v-neck, cap sleeve top and drawstring, tapered pants create a simple yet sophisticated look. When I shop for joggers I look for little details that distinguish them from basic joggers. My set from H&M, for example, has a cropped, puff sleeve top that makes it ‘fashion.’

One of the things I love about a jogger set is that it’s versatile. You can wear the entire set. You can rock the separates. You can dress up the pieces. These days, you can find me in Zoom meetings. All the time. Zoom meetings. To dress up my joggers, I simply throw on a blazer or a jacket. Most of my meetings are style related, so I have a little fashion fun with my blazer looks. One of the biggest spring trends this year is the bralette-blazer combination. So I’m playing with that trend below. Doesn’t the change in tops make my drawstring pants look dressier?

The Puff Sleeve Trend Just Keeps Getting Bigger

I’ve fully embraced the puff sleeve trend. It’s been easy because I’ve never met an exaggerated puff sleeve that I didn’t love. Tops can be boring, and statement sleeves add so much interest. So, I’ve been purchasing styles with no fear of growing tired of them. I’ve even dusted off a few old favorites from my wardrobe. Good news is, though, the trend is getting bigger and bigger, literally and figuratively.

Puff Sleeve Trend

I found today’s featured top in the Zara holiday sale (see the H&M version here). It was a must-have for me because it’s so extra, in all the best ways possible. I mean, it has dramatic puff sleeves, wide cuffs, and ruching. It’s also cropped, so I’ve been pairing it with high-waisted bottoms like these faux-leather flare leggings.

I wore the top and this entire outfit to a concert I attended last week. It was the perfect, ‘fashionable’ look for the occasion. And, equally important, I felt comfortable.
