The Green Hue You’ll See Everywhere This Fall

Green with envy! Shades of green have been having a moment this year, especially olive green. And, I couldn’t be more into it. Green hues serve well as foundation colors, practically giving them neutral status. Yet, you get fresh color. Win-win.

What I’m wearing:

Olive green top | Navy pants with raffia belt (on sale) | Sandals (major markdown!)

Kendra Scott earrings  (on sale) c/o

I spotted today’s featured top on Zara and added-to-cart with a quickness. The top stole my attention because of its striking color (an olive green hue) and standout silhouette. It has puffed sleeves, a high neck, and a cropped length. The deal closer? It’s under $40.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small which fits true to size.

Shades of green pair well with each other. I wore my top with my Banana Republic lime sorbet blazer, and the color combination was truly magical. This particular olive green also looks great with lighter colors, like white and cream. And, of course, it pairs beautifully with navy blue too.

Shoulder Pads: An Easy Option For Rocking The 80s Trend Now

I have the fondest memories of shopping my mom’s closet as a young girl. Every time, I’d encounter pieces with shoulder pads, though, I’d cut ’em out. Lol. Today, I love the architectural interest shoulder pads add to basics. My favorite blazers have sharp shoulders. My new favorite black shirtdress has accentuated shoulders. No matter your taste, the shoulder pads trend for fall could add a little pizazz to your style.

As  you can imagine, the trend for fall is bringing options for every style preference, from subtle to square to over-the-top, voluminous shoulder pads. This basic dress from Zara (also available in blue and tan), which retails for just $25.90, is so simple but stuns because of the sleeveless, shoulder detail.

Sizing? I’m wearing the dress in a size Medium.

To pull the entire look together, I added slide sandals, a fedora, and a long statement necklace. The result is a simple, yet infinitely chic combination. The sharp shoulders are largely responsible for that, of course.

Favorite Kicks In The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Are you shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year? I had no plans to. But, I wanted a new pair of casual sneakers, and the sale has several stylish options that are priced right. I decided on a classic stylethe Nike Blazer Low SE sneakers. The White/ Pink Quartz-Pollen Rise colorway fits my style needs perfectly. And, anniversary sale pricing (plus an on-hand Nordstrom note) made the purchase an easy one. Today’s post shares one way I’m styling these sneakers (more inspiration coming soon) as well as the the other Nordstrom Anniversary Sale sneakers I deliberated.

When you have a closet filled with bright pieces, colorblocking is a must for expanding styling possibilities. This summer, I’ve been enjoying experimenting with new-to-me color combos. This peach and lime sorbet combination has quickly become a favorite. See here how amazing peach also looks with mustard yellow. Want more colorblocking inspiration? See here and here.

These Chic Halter Tops Are Already On Sale

Halter necklines are a favorite of mine for showing off the shoulders during the summer. You too? The silhouette is so flattering and available on a variety of styles from tops to jumpsuits (see my halter jumpsuit here). I’ve been closely watching a few items at Mango, including today’s featured halter neck top (shop it here). Now that there’s a huge sale (up to 70% off) at Mango, getting the halter top just made sense.

What I’m wearing:

Top | Jeans c/o | Belt | Slides c/o | Watch (similar) | Hoops (option)

P.S. My favorite strapless bra for wearing with tops like this one is now on sale (under $25, orig. $60) at Nordstrom Rack (see it here)

Naturally, this particular top initially caught my eye because of the combination of its bright orange color and its sexy silhouette. It also has a luxurious knit fabric that makes it look so much more expensive than it is. By the way, the top is on sale for $35.99. For size reference, I’m wearing a size small, and the fit is perfect.

For a casual but polished weekend look, I paired my halter neck top with dark rinse jeans. Since I planned to demi-tuck the top, I added my Gucci skinny belt for a pop of gold in the front. That touch of gold gave me the perfect excuse for rocking my gold Sanna slides. These slides (now on sale here) go with everything though.

How to Layer to Dress Down an Outfit

The holidays may long been over, but there are some holiday styles so fly that we might want to hang on to them until spring officially gets here. Velvet, last holiday’s most luscious fabric, is something I’m not quite ready to let go. So, to make one of my favorite velvet pieces, a velvet jumpsuit (seen before here), work right now, I’m doing some J.Crew-inspired layering to dress it down.

In a recent J.Crew style guide, the brand’s stylists used key denim pieces, like jean jackets and chambray shirts, to add a hip vibe to fancy tulle dresses and velvet items. I immediately saw myself doing something similar. My J.Crew Factory gingham shirt, an old favorite, has the perfect fit for layering. Furthermore, gingham has a casual vibe like chambray. So, I decided to see what it would look like layered under my jumpsuit. It worked.

Gingham shirt | Velvet jumpsuit (sold out) | Dot pumps (old) | Stunna lip paint

To add a spring element to this layered look, I added my old circle lace pumps to create a fun mix of prints with the gingham shirt.

Talking about layering, I have two beautiful 14K necklaces from Diamonds Direct that are also perfect for layering. They are both initial necklaces, a “P” in diamonds (get a closer look here) and an “S” etched in gold.
