Fall’s Most Comfortable Denim Trend

I wasn’t kidding when I said I hadn’t worn my jeans since going into quarantine. My uniform for being bored-in-the-house-in-the-house-bored prioritized comfort. So, I’ve been rocking sweatsuits and oversized dresses. St. Louis-based Soft Surroundings piqued my interest, though, when it launched its latest denim collection. You see, Soft Surroundings is synonymous with comfort, so if anyone could make jeans super comfortable, it’d be them. Today, I’m sharing a comfortable denim trend and my IT pair from the entire collection.

What I’m wearing:

Target blouse | Soft Surroundings jeans c/o | Mesh squared-toe sandals

Kendra Scott earrings c/o | Christian Dior scarf | Pat McGrath lipstick (Elson)

My favorite pair from the denim line is the Ultimate High-Rise Frayed-Hem Crop jeans. For size reference, I’m wearing them in a size 6. They’ve got a flattering high-rise waist, a luxe-looking blue wash, and an ankle-flaunting crop length. The icing on the cake though? These jeans are so soft and smooth. I wore them 3 times last week. No exaggeration.

They require no effort for styling. I simply threw on a white blouse, and I had a look. By the way, this blouse is from Target. I own it in two colors (white and beige). The lightweight fabric, relaxed silhouette, and slightly puffed raglan sleeves make it quite special. It has an oversized fit, so I sized down to an XS (shop it here).

My squared-toe sandals are from Zara. The mesh detail makes this simple style so interesting.

You already know. I’ma huge fan of twilly scarves because they’re so versatile. Go here to see 6 practical ways to wear one.

My scarf is by Christian Dior and features the popular Dior Oblique print. I splurged on it because I wanted something featuring that must-have print in a style I knew I’d wear a lot.

The Denim Jumpsuits Your Summer Style Needs

The denim jumpsuit trend just won’t go away. And, you know what, I’m so here for it. What’s not to love about a one piece wonder? You throw ’em on and done! And, denim jumpsuits add a little je-ne-sais-quois to my one piece wonder collection. And, the options at the end of this post might do the same for yours.

My jumpsuit is from Zara (check out a similar style for less from H&M here). I was immediately drawn to it because of its details, from its cuffed sleeves to its utility vibe to the pockets. It reminded me of a romper I regret getting rid of (see that 2015 oldie here).

Denim jumpsuits like this one make getting dressed so easy. More importantly, they make looking chic and sharp a breeze. I didn’t even have to try here. Ha. I tossed on some sandals, a head wrap (haven’t had a haircut in over 2 months), a mask (because safety first), and I was ready.

Blazer, Bermuda Shorts, And Combat Boots

Last weekend, I had an amazing opportunity to partner with the St. Louis Boat & Sportshow. If you saw my cut-out swim trend post, you got a peek at the images I took for the Instagram end of that partnership. My other task was to chat about style with attendees who stopped by the Discover Boating Hub at the show. Today’s post shares a glimpse into that experience as well as the outfit I wore on day 2 of my presentations.

What I’m wearing:

Blazer | Tank | Bermuda shorts (DIY)

Houndstooth tights | Combat boots (similar, option) | Earrings (similar) | Watch

One of the things I love about style is the unlimited possibilities it offers to be creative. For my presentation, I chose a look that was part business with the blazer, part hip with denim Bermuda shorts, and part rebellious with the combat boots. The resulting look empowered me to present with confidence because I felt good.

The Denim Fit Dominating Trends This Year

The flared denim trend has been picking up steam in recent seasons. This year, though, cropped flare jeans have taken center stage. And, that’s the one that got me excited. Of course, I’m short and prefer ankle-length styles in general. But, these cropped flares offer so much more in terms of styling opportunities.

What I’m wearing:

Top | Jeans | Sandals | Earrings (similar, similar) | Bag | Lip (Bawse)

First things first, I found this pair in Madewell (shop them here). I opted for this washed black color, dubbed Bellspring Wash, because black jeans step up a look. The faded wash eliminates the worry about ruining them in the washing machine. The button-front closure always adds an interesting touch as well. In addition, the rise on this pair–exactly 10 1/2 inches–is simply the perfect high rise. For reference, I’m wearing a size 28, my usual size.

I’m a huge fan of this denim fit because of its styling versatility. Tops can be tucked. Tops can be cropped. And, tops can be fitted or oversized. They all look great. I went with a fitted asymmetrical top here. Come back next week to see how I wear it with a super dramatic top.

The versatility doesn’t end there. I love this fit because it looks great with some of our favorite shoe styles, from high-heel sandals to mules to booties. And, the best part? These standout jeans don’t mind sharing the spotlight. They allow your shoes to be on full display.
