Cozy Chic Outdoor Style For The Current Times

The holiday season is surely going to be different this year. Gosh, 2020 has brought us all kinds of new experiences. When I need a break from being safest-at-home, I head outdoors to explore my city. Enjoying outdoor activities gets tricky as it gets colder, but I’m committed to extend that enjoyment. So, I’ve been searching for a new puffer to make sure my outdoor style is on point.

I partnered with Everlane to create some Instagram Stories yesterday. When I pulled my featured outfit for those stories, I knew immediately what I wanted–the ReNew Long Puffer. This puffer was exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for. And, it is inspiring my cold-weather, outdoor style

The Everlane puffer jacket immediately caught my eye because of its overall luxe look. Do you see those oversized button flap pockets? I was all the way sold, though, when I saw it came in 3 colors including this right-on-trend Chestnut hue. When I received it, I was blown away by its high quality. And, when I wore it, I was blown away by how warm and cozy it is. I’m actually looking forward to colder temps because I’m ready with my outdoor style.

On frigid days when my coat needs to show up and rep my style, this puffer jacket will be the one. Such a statement coat doesn’t even need much help to create fabulous outfits. I’m wearing it here with a turtleneck top and leggings. That’s it!

How To Wear Fall’s Favorite Shades of Brown

All black outfits for fall have a certain level of timelessness and functionality. But, if you’re looking for an alternative, shades of brown can deliver on both fronts. Brown is an IT color of fall this year. You can have so much fun styling your favorite hues in the color family, from chocolate to toffee. In today’s post, I’m sharing how I’ve been rocking the must-wear color.

What I’m Wearing:

Coat (size M) | Turtleneck (size S) | Joggers (size M) | Sneakers | Telfar small shopping bag

Kendra Scott Mayra earrings, bracelet, and ring (c/0) | Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (Red Carpet Red)

Brown Fashion Trend

Nothing exudes sophistication like a monochromatic outfit. Whether you choose to block the exact same color or color block in the same family of hues, the result is sharp when done right. In this outfit, I’m rocking some basic jogger pants and a sleeveless turtleneck. The look comes alive, though, because of the colors, a little toffee mixed with copper mixed with chocolate. These rich, deep, complementary tones mix so well together. They also provide the perfect backdrop to pop a contrasting color, like the deep olive on my Telfar bag.

Since these hues are popular, the options will be plentiful. My joggers and top are from Zara (linked above). My coat is a beautiful Theory find (get it on sale here). It’s pricey for what it is (an unlined, wool/cashmere, one-button coat), but the quality and overall look are worth every penny. It goes with everything too (see it also worn here). I got it in a size medium for an even more oversized fit.

How To Update This Classic Fall Print

No doubt, plaid is a classic fall print. So, as you pack away your summer staples and make room for all things fall, secure a spot for plaid prints too. Last fall/winter, we witnessed plaid shake off its stuffy reputation, presenting itself as edgy even. This season, we’re seeing more of that. And, with some easy styling tweaks, you can add a lot of flavor to your old plaid favorites too.

What I’m Wearing:

Plaid topper | Zara Faux leather pants (similar) | Belt | Stuart Weitzman booties (sold out)

Wool fedora (size M) | Lip: Charlotte Tilbury “Red Carpet Red”

First thing’s first, my plaid topper is an all-time favorite piece from St. Louis-based Soft Surroundings. It’s like a coatigan (neither coat nor cardigan), making it a transitional weather essential. It’s super soft and quite chic. The best news? If you missed it last year and wanted one, it’s back (shop it here)!

A topper in plaid is a great choice for styling and restyling. This topper can elevate basics like jeans (see here). It can add a stylish touch to your favorite joggers. And, it can offer an interesting style juxtaposition when paired with edgier pieces like faux leather leggings.

My flared, faux leather leggings are an older style from Zara (see them styled here, here, and here). I’ve linked a few current options in the widget below because tis the season to rock that pleather.

To cinch the look together, I added a statement belt, booties (for the color and texture), and a sharp fedora.

How To Achieve Effortless Fall Style In Monochrome Outfits

Rocking head-to-toe hues can be a daring choice. But, it can also be an easy choice for effortless style. And, since you can choose colors that speak to your style sensibilities, you have every reason to try it. This fall, I’m definitely favoring colors like chocolate brown and maroon. So, I’m busy planning monochrome outfits, like today’s featured look, that build around those deep tones.

What I’m wearing:

Maroon dress | Jacket c/o | Booties (old) | Earrings | Lip (Color: Elson)

Monochrome Outfits

This particular outfit is built around the deep maroon dress from Zara. It has an all-over wrinkled pattern, and it’s sleeveless with shoulder pads. To make it ready for fall, I added my Jacket Maker leather jacket. In addition to the custom fit on the jacket, I adore its “Smolder Black” color. It sometimes looks like a deep aubergine or even a deep brown (see what I mean here and here). All in all, it’ll be the perfect finishing touch to all the monochrome outfits I’ll create in this color scheme. Of course, tis bootie season, so I also added my old favorite, peep-toe booties.

For a pop of contrasting color, my nails (manicure and pedicure) are a beautiful light blue/mint-ish gel color. I usually gravitate to colors like black or OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark this time of year. But, I’m especially loving how light blue goes with fall’s IT colors.

I had a blast at a spa day recently at Beauty Brands where I got my nails done. Beauty Brands is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a huge sale. I partnered with them on social media to promote a special 25% discount, good on any salon & spa service through 11/30/20. If you’re near a Beauty Brands, be sure to grab my coupon code here.

Happy First Day Of Fall!

Happy first day of fall! The change of season feels equal parts strange and exciting this year. It’s been some kind of year already, so a norm like an expected change of season is welcomed. St. Louis must’ve sensed that we needed the change because fall weather arrived right on time. So, I’ve been reaching for some of my favorite fall beige tones.

What I’m Wearing:

Blazer (new options) | Tube top | Pants (love this option) | Sneakers

Wool fedora | Earrings | Lip (Color: Elson)

fall beige tones

Neutrals have enjoyed a lot of popularity this year. And, of course, they’ll continue to do so during the fall. While I love brights, there are some neutral tones that hold a special place in my heart. When you rock them together, the combinations can be super special.

My plaid pants are an older style from H&M (seen before here). This season, I purchased a pull-on, jogger-style, plaid pair from Target (shop them here). I especially love the look and feel of that Target style that I bought two color options. And, get this? They’re $20.

My oversized blazer is from H&M (see all the new options). It is the exact same style as the baby blue blazer I’m wearing here. This beige version looks and feels expensive even though it was only $35. You already know, H&M blazers can be hit or miss. I like to get my hands on them, that is, see them in person, to know when it’s a hit.

To complete this neutral ensemble, I added my white tube top (for a little fun), some sneakers (for a hip vibe), and a wool fedora.

Are you feeling all the fall beige tones this season?
