The Coolest Way To Wear Your Jacket–Drape It!

Fashion over function? In this case, I’m all for it. Draping a jacket over your shoulders, like a superhero cape, makes a basic outfit infinity chic. To demonstrate, I’m adding a draped jacket to the simplest outfit combination–a white button-up shirt and skinny blue jeans.

What I’m wearing:

Moto jacket (option) | White shirt | Skinny jeans | Shoes c/o | Bag

Sunnies c/o | Watch

Let me just say that I love the stretch button-up shirt I’m wearing. If you’ve also been looking for a button-up with a figure-flattering (not boxy) silhouette and buttons that don’t gape, this is it. The shirt is true-to-size as well. I’m wearing size small.

I paired my white shirt with my current favorite skinny jeans. While my half tuck made the combination seem cool, the look needed a little something extra. And, a draped jacket was the extra oomph.

A quick disclaimer: never drape your jacket when you actually need to be covered by a jacket, that is, it is seriously cold. Function ought to trump in situations like those. But, when you can get away with it, drape that jacket and watch it transform a basic outfit into something cool.

I swear by the styling technique and wear my jackets this way often. See what I mean herehere, here, here, and here.
