How To Wear The Double Coat Trend With No Bulk

A coat can be so much more than just a layer. It’s a critical expression of your style. And, during the cooler months, it’s usually the first thing people see. So, I spend a lot of time deciding on coats to add to my wardrobe (read more about that here) and to complete my cold weather looks. With that said, I’ve been so intrigued by the double coat trend that first made waves on the Spring 2018 runways. Today, I’m sharing how I take that trend from the runways to my real life.

What I’m wearing:

Trench coat (sold out, similar, option, option) | Cardigan (similar) | Tank | Jeans

Belt | Loafers (similar, similar, similar) | Bag

As you can imagine, on the runways, we saw over-the-top takes on the double coat trend, like doubling up on puffer coats. I’m always open to embrace a new way to do something we’ve always done, like layering. But, I wouldn’t want to add unnecessary bulk to my overall look. So, for early fall, I’m test-driving the double coat trend by wearing my trench coats over my duster coats.

I love the combination because it allows me to experiment with textures. I’m especially fond of the styling possibility because it allows me to play with colors (and event prints) as well. Most importantly, the combination produces a sleek, sophisticated, non-bulky look.
