Winter, especially the severely cold kind we’re experiencing in St. Louis right now, puts a lot of demands on our styles. Of course, we want to be our usually stylish selves. But, we also have to prioritize staying warm. That can certainly be a chore, but it also presents some cool opportunities for having fun with style. Today, I’m sharing my top 3 winter style tips for looking like a million bucks when it’s freezing outside.

1. Layer Stylishly
So, we have to layer to add insulation, right? Layer smartly and stylishly. I’m wearing my winter style formula in this look—tights, a couple tops, and boots. That is it. The overall look is luxe, however, because each layer adds a jazzy touch. My tights, for example, are a standout velvet pair (get yours here).
2. Choose Luxe Textures and Fabrics
From velvet to flannel to corduroy, in addition to being warm, cold-weather fabrics look very luxurious when chosen wisely. In addition, they mix and match so well. In the featured all-black look, I mix jacquard, velvet, and leather. And, the result is a sophisticated-looking combination.
3. Have Fun Balancing Function and Style
Be creative with your winter essentials. Throw a belt around a coat. Add a fun scarf. In this look, I transformed a jacquard jacket into a kimono top. The single-button jacket has a deep v-neck and an open bottom, both features not conducive to the freezing temps in my city. So, I decided to wrap the jacket, kimono style, and hold it in place with a skinny belt.
