My plaid shirts are go-tos when I want a more casual style (see example here). But, they can be easily dressed for almost any occasion with the right accessories (like this). So, when I needed a little festive red for a holiday event recently, I reached for a plaid shirt. Here’s how I wore it.
What I’m Wearing:
Shirt (similar, jacket option) | Leggings (similar, similar) | Shoes (option)
Belt | Bag (similar) | Lip: Mac “Rebel” lipstick
This particular plaid shirt is long enough to function as a tunic. So, I paired it with a pair of edgy, faux leather leggings. I cinched the waist with my Gucci skinny belt to control the volume and create a flattering silhouette. I’m really happy that I chose the skinny version of this belt because it best suits my frame and my overall belt needs. I purchased the belt in a size 85, which allows me to wear it on my waist and as a hip belt without adding additional holes.
To add a little fun to the look, I relied on print mixing. My Sophia Webster pumps have the perfect clashing yet complementary floral print.
This Loeffler Randall lock clutch, with its beautiful dot print, adds a third print into the mix. Together, all three prints make magic.
To allow the plaid shirt to shine, I kept my accessories simple, opting for studs in the ears and a watch only.
P.S. I stole borrowed this shirt from my husband’s closet. Since I have to return it, I’m really liking this Gap version.
