I woke up like this! Seriously, when I woke up today, my eyes looked just like this. Why? I got lash extensions, y’all. I was invited by Trang, the esthetician and owner of Glow Studio St. Louis, to try Xtreme eyelash extensions. Since Trang is highly qualified and I’ve been curious about the procedure, I did it. And, I’m so glad I did.
I’m a huge fan of lazy-girl beauty routines. I shared one of my usual routines in this recent post. I do the bare minimum to look polished and photo-ready. So, the fact that lash extensions promise to eliminate the need for eye makeup really piqued my interest.
I met with Trang at her Central West End studio just under a week ago. We did a thorough consultation that explored everything from my sleep patterns to allergies to any past cosmetic procedures. As a licensed esthetician, Trang prioritizes this exhaustive consultation to ensure that eye and eyelash health aren’t compromised by the procedure.
After I was cleared for lash extensions, I got cozy on a massage table in preparation for the application. The actual process of applying lash extensions averages about 2.5 hours. After Trang cleaned and physically examined my eyes and lashes, though, she noted that my application process would require more time because as sparse as my lashes appear, there are a lot of them. And, just so you know, lash extensions are applied one single lash at a time. And, the medical grade glue that is used to apply them must completely dry between each application. It’s a thorough process that’s well worth the investment of time. Just check out my before and after.
I’ll be returning to Glow Studio in 2-3 weeks for a relash. Natural lashes mature and shed every 4-6 weeks, so retouches help maintain the dramatic full lash look.
Since applying my lash extensions, I haven’t worn any eye makeup. None. To be honest, if I never have to wear eyeliner and mascara again, I’d be cool with that.
If you’re in the St. Louis area, be sure to check out Trang at Glow Studio St. Louis. Need more inspiration before trying the procedure? Check out all the dramatic before and after shots on the Glow Studio Instagram page.
Very beautiful transformation.
I have been skeptical about eye lash extensions since I heard of the procedure but it does look really good and neat on you.
Now, I wonder how long you have to keep going for retouches? Please, share..

Thanks, Beauty! Great question. Retouches are recommended every 2-3 weeks if you want to maintain the full look of your initial installation. Since each extension is glued to a single natural lash, as a natural lash sheds, you lose the extension attached to it. I believe the average person naturally loses 5 lashes a day. I could maintain this look by retouching every 3 weeks indefinitely. My esthetician, for example, has a beautiful set that she has been maintaining for 3 years.
Thanks
