No Budget, No Problem: That Time I Styled a Look at Saks

Happy flashback Friday! This blog focuses on making prudent choices when it comes to style and shopping. When you’re invited to Saks Fifth Avenue to find your Saks style, though, and you’re not given a budget, you head straight for the YSL!

I’ve had a couple of really fun and memorable opportunities to partner with Saks St. Louis. The Saks 5 campaign was the first one. For that project, I got to create a head-to-toe look using my five favorite items for spring. As you could imagine, I gravitated towards classic dresses, bright colors and bold prints. I styled my entire around a fresh-for-spring, painterly-print Clover Canyon dress. That dress made me an instant fan of Clover Canyon.

I think what I love most about the Clover Canyon brand is that it blends vivid, abstract, and unique prints with clean and classic silhouettes. Clover Canyon pieces, then, are bold but timeless. I styled this look back in Spring 2014 and would totally wear it today. I recently found a fabulous pair of Clover Canyon pants at thredUP and plan to wear those for years. I also have my eyes on this Clover Canyon one-piece swimsuit.

Even though I had no budget to consider when styling my look at Saks, I stayed true to my approach to shopping, namely, spend moderately on clothing and splurge on accessories. To complete my look, I added a Saint Laurent ‘Y Ligne’ clutch in blue. See more about this collaboration in The Saks 5: February Favorites. Be sure to check out my second partnership with Saks as well. I got to style a look and model it during Contemporary Week at Saks.

Have a wonderful weekend!
