Don’t go into Ann Taylor! Actually, let me rephrase that. Don’t go into Ann Taylor unless you’re prepared to spend some money on beautiful must-haves for the summer. Just about everything is on sale right now. That new Amalfi Halter Dress? Now on sale. The cute Pineapple Maxi Skirt? Now on sale. The gingham dress I’m wearing today? It’s on sale too, and sale is on sale, y’all!

I actually stopped by the mall recently to try on a few of J.Crew’s new arrivals. I especially wanted to try on J.Crew’s short-sleeve shirtdress in gingham after virtually styling it in this post. Shift silhouettes are often unflattering on me, though, and this one didn’t look good enough to pay full price.
After a disappointing visit to the Crew, I stopped into Ann Taylor, which I had to pass on the way back to my car. Why did I do that? After only minutes in the store, I needed two store associates to help me take all the stuff I wanted to try on into a fitting room. Seriously. I had so many items, including this beautiful Stonework Pleated Jumpsuit and the vibrant Striped Sweater Dress. They’re already on sale and sale items are an additional 40% off right now.
When I tried on the belted pocket dress with its all-over, jumbo gingham print, I knew immediately that it would be coming home with me. It fit so well that I started twirling in the fitting room. Do you do that too? I’m wearing the dress in a size small by the way.
When I took this dress into the fitting room, I didn’t think it would work because I thought my 5’4″ frame would be overpowered by the bold print, especially on a dress with such a longer midi length. I was wrong.
And, the final selling point? The dress has pockets. The dress has pockets. I don’t even use the pockets on my dresses. I just like to have them just in case, you know. Ha.
