The bargain shopping gods smiled on me, y’all. Two years ago, Kate Spade launched the brand’s Havana collection, an assortment of streamlined pieces set in bright florals and earth tones. I immediately wish-listed half of the collection because the pieces were exquisite and I’ve always felt a special connection to Cuba. My trip to Cuba remains my most memorable travel experience ever because it was wonderful to see where my maternal grandmother was born and raised before migrating to St. Kitts-Nevis where I was later born in.
Unfortunately, the Havana collection was quite popular and many of the pieces sold out before the prices fell into my budget range. Imagine my delight, then, when I recently stumbled into my local Kate Spade Outlet store and saw this dress (the Kate Spade Landscape dress from the Havana Collection). That day only got better. My store is apparently phasing out clothing to focus on carrying accessories, so all dresses were either $59.99 or $89.99. This $428 dress was $89.99.
Dress: Kate Spade (now in Kate Spade Outlets)
Clutch: Loeffler Randall (on sale)
Earrings: Kendra Scott
Rings: Alexis Bittar, Kendra Scott (on sale)
I tried on the Landscape dress and the rest is history. Last Friday, I wore it to attend Opera Tastings in St. Louis. Check out my recap (filled with pictures) of that night in A Night of Delight: Opera Tastings in St. Louis.
This Kate Spade dress makes a bold statement with its all-over Cuban cityscape print. I opted to break up the print a bit with my Anthropologie “Lunel” belt (on mega clearance in-store) and accent the hint of yellow in the dress with my J.Crew Collection Roxie pumps (sold out, but occasionally pops back).
I also wore my pebble dot Loeffler Randall Lock Clutch for a subtle mix of prints. I kept my jewelry minimal wearing studs and a couple rings only.
