Fashion Myth: Black and Brown Don’t Go Together

The major trends of recent years have made one thing clear—fashion rules are meant to be broken. Don’t wear white after labor. Says who? Lately, I’ve been drawn to the combinations of navy and black as well as black and brown, two color combinations that used to occupy permanent positions on fashion don’t lists.

In today’s post, I’m proudly pairing black with brown. My favorite way to combine the colors is by allowing one color to dominate and the other to serve as an accent. In this look, my black draped jumpsuit is holding down the outfit while a brown belt adds a certain interest.

Black, brown, and mixed metals? Absolutely. My favorite mixed metal pieces, including my Kendra Scott “Adair” earrings and my J.Crew “Fireburst” bracelet, which combine gunmetal and gold, are the perfect finishing touches for the black and brown look.

Have you tried the Mac “Vamplify” glosses? They’ve made this matte lipstick lover a fan of gloss again.

Shopping for a new jumpsuit? This draped jumpsuit is perfect for fall. It has long sleeves and is easy to layer. I’m wearing it in a size small. And, just so you know, it’s on sale right now for $36 (originally $44).

Have a wonderful weekend!
