I had planned to wear a dress on Saturday night, but changed my mind because it would’ve required adding tights and other layers to make it work for the colder night. I reached instead for my favorite pair of jeans, the essential stretch skinny jeans from Target (under $30), a long-sleeve tee, and a statement coat.

The burgundy peplum coat ($89) made the entire look come together. It has a rich color, a flattering fit and flare silhouette, a ruffled bottom, and standout gold buttons. This coat makes a beautiful statement.
