I have dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin. So, I’ve always had to take my skin care very seriously because when I didn’t, I experienced uncomfortable skin flare-ups. I’ve tried expensive products. I’ve tried every new product that my dermatologist has recommended. One day, on a whim, about six months ago, I ordered the Shea Moisture facial system. It works so well that I’ve been using the system every day since.
My first introduction to Shea Moisture body products was the raw shea chamomile and argan oil baby eczema bar soap. It smells so good and is fragranced only by its natural ingredients (no artificial fragrance). The soap is gentle, soothing, and very moisturizing. I figured if the soap is that good, I ought to try the facial products.
I ordered the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter system. This particular system includes four products—a bar soap, a facial wash and scrub, a moisturizer, and a facial mask. The products are rich with natural, certified organic, good-for-the-skin ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, frankincense, and myrhh. And, somehow, the entire system retails for only $19 at Target. Individually, the products cost much more.
My face routine: I use the scrub, which is very gentle, every time I wash my face. If I’m removing foundation, however, I use the bar soap instead. After cleansing my face, I apply the moisturizer. I use the mask about once a week. One system usually lasts up to three months for me.
Last year, I reviewed the skin soothing, six-ingredient Ellovi butters. I’ve been a loyal customer of the brand since then. The company has since launched a few new butters, including a Chamomile Blossom butter, which they sent me to try. The new butters still use only six ingredients and have the same consistency and benefits I’ve grown accustomed to. One of my favorite things about the butters is that they are natural sunscreens.
