Accessories: Summer to Fall Transition

And, just like that. August is here. The end of summer is imminent. It may still be hot outside, but I’m starting to think about fall. Any new purchases I make right now must transition well into fall. Speaking of which, see how I transition summer’s favorite jumpsuit to fall in Wear Now, Layer Later, a recent post for Delux Magazine.

I attended a fashion show last weekend, and I wanted to wear something that exuded the moodiness of fall style. It was over 90 degrees, though, so I needed that outfit to also be cool and breezy. I reached for an eyelet cropped top and tie-front pleated shorts. These pieces were lightweight and breathable. My accessories brought all the edge and fall flavor.

Key pieces, like my Kendra Scott Margot necklace and Kendra Scott Adair earrings, both in the gold and gunmetal combination, instantly added interest to my black ensemble. The details on these pieces are modern and edgy. All night long, I fielded questions about the jewelry. “Wow. That necklace is stunning, who made it?” “I need those. Who are your earrings by?” The earrings and necklace are an eye-catching pair. Both pieces belong to Kendra Scott’s Mystic Bazaar collection. This fall collection is filled with eclectic statement pieces.

To complete my look, I grabbed my Rebecca Minkoff studded clutch. I added a bit of color with my J.Crew Elsie fabric pumps and a burgundy hat from H&M. For even more color, I wore OPI” red fingers and mistletoes” on my nails and Mac “Fashion Revival” lipstick (similar to Mac “Rebel”).

These images were taken by the St. Louis waterfront, which is largely under construction at the moment. I still like to visit the area often because just being by the water makes me so happy and reminds me of home.
