Shoes as Building Blocks

As you may know, I’m participating in the #RossFallFaves styling challenge. Even though I was provided a stipend to shop four complete looks, I wanted to make $mart purchases. One important strategy I used while out shopping for this campaign, was to ensure that I found appropriate pieces for the looks that also fit my overall wardrobe. I only purchased items that could operate as wardrobe building blocks, remixable pieces I would want to wear again.

I’m so pleased with my Ross purchases and I’ve already been wearing those items a lot. My pewter oxfords (cheaper here in limited sizes) with the cutout sides, though, is surely one of my favorite Ross buys. I was just in NYC for a few days and styled each of the outfits I wore there around those oxfords. When in NYC, I move around the city via subway and bus, so comfy-chic shoes are a must. These oxfords were perfectly comfortable for traveling and right-on-trend for styling.

Today’s post shares a look I wore to breakfast in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The oxfords fit right in with a printastic blouse by Tracy Reese (found in Nordstrom Rack), ponte knit pants (also from Ross), and my J.Crew mixed resin earrings.
