Last night, I was chatting with one of my tweeps and she mentioned a fierce outfit she put together using items shopped from her own closet. By the way, you can find me on twitter at @economyofstyle. Today, I was so inspired by her tweet that I decided to pull something older from my closet that I hadn’t worn in a long time—a Context brocade skirt.
I purchased this brocade skirt with its woven shiny fabric and tonal floral design at least five years ago when Lord & Taylor was going out of business in St. Louis. It’s one of those pieces that I don’t wear much, but I want to own forever.
In an attempt to make the skirt work today, I paired it with a stripe tank, belted it, then topped it off with a mint green blazer for a fresh spring look.

Not too bad for an old skirt I had to dust off, right? What’s hiding in your closet, but is perfect for spring?

This is a fantastic outfit! Love that skirt, how you added the stripes, the color of your heels, and of course the mint blazer 🙂
That is a gorgeous skirt, perfect for spring! I like the idea of shopping in your own closet. I need to do that more often and buy less!

Love it! I NEED to go shop my closet. I keep buying new stuff, but I'm slowly realizing that I can come up with a whole new wardrobe if I just re-evaluate my closet!

Gorgeous gorgeous skirt…and well paired with the tank!
Wow, you look amazing! I absolutely adore this outfit! The skirt is cute, but what I love the most is the pastel-coloured blazer. I want it, I want it!

Love this outfit! I really want that skirt! 😀 Keep up the good work!
Wow, I really REALLY love that outfit. Impressive way to use an older skirt, and great usage of current trends without looking *too* trendy. That might be some of the best pattern-mixing I have seen yet, and the palette was perfection.
