Spring Style for Wintry Days

Last Thursday, St. Louis was hit by a snowstorm.  The storm wasn’t as
bad as it could get here, but I was caught off guard, so my outfit that day was hideous.  Apparently, the
city of St. Louis wasn’t prepared for the storm either as several
commuters were stuck on highways for hours because the roads weren’t
sufficiently cleaned and salted.

Yesterday was a very
nice middle 60 degrees here in the Lou, but the freezing temps, rain,
and possibly snow are scheduled to return.  This time, I’ll be ready!

Y’all know I prefer to be in a dress everyday.  Here’s how I style one of my work sheaths for a colder day, but keep it spring fresh by playing with color.

Dress—Calvin Klein via Marshalls; Cardigan—Old Navy

Belt—Banana Republic

During the day, I’ll wear this lightweight yellow coat because it just screams spring and the temps aren’t falling into the teens until tonight.

Coat—Kenneth Cole New York via Marshalls

Guess what?  The super chic, patent, aubergine boots I’m wearing above are rain boots!  I’ve never seen rain boots look this fly.  They are by Cole Haan, retail for $228, but I found them in Marshalls for just $49!  Score!

Cole Haan “Air Melanie” Rain Boot via Marshalls ($49)

Shopping for rain boots?  I found these shoes in Marshalls yesterday, so they could be in your stores too.  If you can’t find them in store,  check out the online options below.  They are on sale (in select colors) online as well, but the prices aren’t as low as in Marshalls.

I'm not a fan of red but I am in love with that skirt. You are so pretty and everything looks good on you. Congrats for being the only person ever to make me want something red lol. Love the outfit.

The rain boot has been with us a very long time. However, not all of us have actually ever seen a rain boot. Other people would not be caught dead without a rain boot set in their closet. Just what is the rain boot and why do some people consider it to be such a staple of their wardrobes!
