I’ve featured pencil skirts in the Looking Back, Looking Forward series several times because they are so classically chic. Today, I’m inducting my red, ruffled pencil skirt from The Limited into my wardrobe’s classics.
I wear this pencil skirt a lot. And, this season, with all the colorblocking and print-mixing going on, I’m discovering new ways to sport this red pencil skirt. Remember my pink and red combo in Pink and Red: Color Clash or Amazing Analogy?
For today’s Looking Back, Looking Forward, I’m attempting a new outfit with my red pencil skirt that combines items I’ve never worn together. A gingham top (see Gingham Goodness for other style options) with cascading ruffles is paired with the red skirt that also has a ruffle detail. My Cato Fashions purple blazer adds an additional layer of color that’s electric when paired with red. Opaque tights and black pumps complete the look.

Great color blocking. The purple looks great with the red and the gingham is so on trend.. Check Diablomag.com – Gingham takes on 2011 as an across the board trend.
@Winda Tiodang: Thanks for stopping by!
@Sheila: Right! It is definitely a favorite color combination right now. And, gingham? I've had a lifelong love of that print!
Loving your hairstyle! Cute! I need a red pencil skirt for sure!
