Casual Cocktail Dressing

Tonight,  I will be attending a cocktail party.  Given the location of the event, the dress code is likely cocktail party casual.

I want to wear a dress, so I think I will finally sport a new one I purchased recently in Dillard’s.  I haven’t been in Dillard’s in years.  I spend so little time in the mall here that I rarely venture to the side of the mall that houses Dillard’s.

Anyway, the day I ventured into the store, Dillard’s was hosting a major sale (65% off many things).  Lucky me, right?  I found a hip Kensie printed tiered dress.  It had layers upon layers of a striking leafy print and a bold, exposed zipper in the front.  It was originally $108, but with 65% off, I purchased it for $37.80.

For tonight’s event, I will play up the rocker-chic-meets-dainty-ruffles vibe by pairing the dress with my studded espadrille wedges.  I will take a black blazer in case it gets chilly.  Et voila!

Dress—Kensie via Dillard’s
Shoes—Kelsi Dagger via Marshalls
Blazer—Banana Republic
Watch—Michael Kors via TJ Maxx
Pearl Earrings—Overstock (now O.co)

Have a wonderful weekend!

    Hi, Love your cocktail outfit…
I have a quick question…Have you worn or shown the new stripe blazers?…horizontal stripes black and white?…I found one that I am debating and wonder if you think this stripe look will be around for awhile?…It looks really cute with white jeans…THX

Thanks @Mallory! It worked out well at the event.

@Sing: I used to think Kensie was a juniors line, so I never bought anything until now. It really is such a hip line.

    Awww thanks @Amina!

@Shasie: When I saw the dress, I immediately knew the shoes would be the perfect complement. You probably do that a lot too right.

@Annie: Yes!! I love stripes and definitely wear them all year and every year. I have a stripe jacket from the Loft that I have featured in a few posts. Definitely check them out! A stripe jacket is quite versatile and can add pizzazz to many looks.

I had the pleasure of running into this dress at Filene's Basement today. I remembered this post and love the blazer pairing. I picked it up for $24.99. Thanks!
