On my way home from work last Tuesday, I stopped by Sassy Fox—a local resale shop. Within 3 minutes of entering the store, I found myself holding a MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton tote, a Rachel Roy print dress, and a Live a Little yellow jacket.
The dress was too tight. The bag was missing its signature lock (so I decided to think about it and even try to find the lock online because the bag was on sale for 1/3 of its current retail cost). The jacket, though, was just right. So, I purchased the jacket ($15.75).
I woke up today with a plan to stretch out at work in that new yellow jacket. “Red and yellow,” I thought. I mean, Lady Gaga pulled it off.

I totally chickened out. I work with my undergraduate students today and they enjoy engaging me about my style. This Gaga-inspired look could have easily robbed ten minutes of our class.
Here is what I wore instead, a look that is seemingly inspired by Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow.”

wow nice that you have a look just like lady Gaga! Love it.
The red and yellow together are divine! I would think the ten minutes spent talking about the outfit would be educational, right?
Ah no, why chicken out, that was great color blocking!
What a great jacket. And thank goodness the shoulders aren't as big as GAGA's
How can a yardie sistren be afraid of color? LOL You looked great with the red and yellow and the black yellow as well but my fav was that red and yellow combo.
P.S. You hair in the last post was awesome!
i love tha jacket both ways but the red and yellow was giving me life! that skirt is tooo fab! but i know what you mean about taking time away from the kids learning. style can throw people off track.
Wow!! you did exactly as I did this morning. I've been wanting to do that Colorblock look for quite sometime and thougt I'd try it this morning. Guess what though "I chickened out." I put together red and purple but let my husband talk me out of it. Your lady Gaga look, looked great you could really pull it off. Next time go and out on a limb and maybe then I'll get up enough nerve to try it!! lol
@TheMadTwins: Yes, Gaga's color choices often inspire me.
@Peacheslcg: Ha. Maybe for their final exam.
@Sing: Thanks. I am taking baby steps. I am building the courage up. Ha.
@Judy C: Right! I don't think I could pull off her jacket. This yellow jacket was such a great find!
@Minister of Style: LOL!! Now, I know that you know in St. Kitts red and yellow do not go together. They are the colors of opposing political parties. Thanks re the hair! I started maintaining a short tapered fro last November. It is so much easier to manage!
@L of Avid Accents: I got excited when I saw the combination too! Maybe I really stretch out and wear it to a faculty meeting. Ha!
@All walks of frugality: I like the idea of encouraging each other. Let's do it! BTW, red and purple sounds fierce!
You have to wear the red & yellow sometime. That's hawt!
